When is PVC Membrane the right material for your building project? PVC membrane is a versatile material that stands out for its durability, aesthetic flexibility, and impressive performance, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of building projects. Its adaptability is particularly beneficial in large-scale applications like stadiums and event spaces, where retractable roofing systems are needed to effectively manage lighting and weather conditions. Additionally, when produced in bright white, PVC membrane helps reduce radiant heat gain, keeping interiors cooler and enhancing overall energy efficiency. Sustainability is another key advantage. PVC is recyclable during fabrication and has a life expectancy of 20-30 years, providing a long-lasting, eco-friendly alternative to traditional roofing systems. With its lightweight composition, PVC delivers excellent weathertight properties, making it a cost-effective option without sacrificing performance. Moreover, its availability in various colors and printable surfaces allows for a high degree of customization, ensuring that the material can meet specific aesthetic and design needs. We’re thrilled to see Ben Johns in action during this year’s biannual roof inspection at BC Place Stadium—a project we’re proud to support through our service and maintenance offerings. The retractable roof is a one-of-a-kind engineering marvel. As the largest cable-supported fabric roof in the world, it’s designed to handle Vancouver’s unique climate while providing incredible event versatility. It transitions from fully covered to open-air in just 20 minutes, enhancing the stadium’s adaptability for sports, concerts, and exhibitions. This year’s scope included: ✔️ Retractable Roof Inspection: Membrane, belts, and connecting hardware ✔️ Fixed Roof Inspection: Outer membrane assessment ETS works closely with our partners, like Ben and PFEIFER Group, to ensure these iconic structures are not only built to last but maintained to perform at their best year-round. Curious about our service and maintenance capabilities? Let’s connect!
Just finished my annual job on BC Place for Enclos Tensile Structures . The retractable roof over BC Place is truly a technological marvel. The cable-supported fabric roof is the largest of its kind in the world - designed and engineered specifically for Vancouver’s climate. This time around we performed a first. We remotely opened it from Europe... and it worked perfectly.
