Dear Partners and Supporters,  We’re thrilled to announce the expansion of our Introduction to the Trades program, a foundational workforce initiative by Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation, based in the Energy Innovation Center in the Hill District. This program, established over a decade ago, has grown to be an invaluable resource for individuals seeking to build careers in the trades. To support our expansion goals, I am honored to step into the role of Executive Director, where I’ll focus on broadening our partnerships and program reach. In this transition, I’m pleased to introduce Deidre Washington as our new Program Director.  Deidre, who has been with us for ten years, has played a key role in our program’s success. She embodies our mission with unwavering dedication, compassion, and a commitment to empowering our participants for success in both work and life. Deidre’s work in personal and professional development has been instrumental. Her guidance in self-awareness, stress management, professionalism, and conflict resolution has helped countless participants gain skills for a professional environment, encouraging self-care and reflection that support career longevity. I will be working closely with Deidre through this transition to ensure continued support for our partners, while Deidre will reach out soon to introduce herself. As we look forward to forging new partnerships, we look forward to expanding our collaborative network to further support Pittsburgh’s infrastructure growth and labor union initiatives. Currently, we serve Allegheny, Washington, Greene, Beaver, Westmoreland, Fayette, Butler and Armstrong counties as a PA Registered Pre-Apprentice Training Program and are an eligible (CWDS) training provider in Pennsylvania. Together, we aim to support job growth, career sustainability, and community well-being across the region. We recently collaborated with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission and University of Pittsburgh (University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering) to hold a “Careers in Energy” Panel, moderated by Commissioner Katie Zerfuss.   The panel featured insights into the multitude of career paths in the energy and utility industry along with emerging technologies and trends for career readiness.   Commissioner Zerfuss also toured the Energy Innovation Center, highlighting the partnership between University of Pittsburgh and DLC in understanding new technologies and modernizing the grid for the future.   A special thank you to everyone who participated. 📣 Exciting News for Women in Manufacturing! 💼⚙️ Yesterday, Acting Secretary Julie Su visited Pittsburgh to announce a major workforce development initiative focused on creating opportunities for women in manufacturing. 🎉 At a gathering at the Energy Innovation Center, Su shared the news that Catalyst Connection will receive $716,701 in funding through the National Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) grant initiative. This funding will expand Catalyst’s efforts to recruit and support women in manufacturing apprenticeships, building a more inclusive workforce. "Really, we are working toward a day where there will no longer be nontraditional occupations for women," Su emphasized during her visit. This initiative is a big step in that direction! 🙌 Partner4Work is proud to stand with Catalyst Connection and local leaders like Mayor Ed Gainey, County Executive Sara Innamorato, and PA State Representative Summer Lee, as we collaborate to ensure equitable access to good-paying jobs. Join us for our New Philanthropic Leaders annual Pitch-In Party on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 6-8 p.m. at the Energy Innovation Center in Uptown Pittsburgh. This year’s cohort focuses on small and midsize nonprofits in the Pittsburgh region that provide transitional housing opportunities for women of color and their families. We will be hearing from three nonprofits receiving cohort funding. Your ticket includes a $20 “vote” that serves as a donation to one the nonprofits as well as networking and light refreshments. Tickets are $25 which comes with a ballot to be part of the evening's funding process.
