Last night we had the honor to celebrate our smart, innovative leader, President Ashley Basile Oeken at the Smart 50 Awards Ceremony. The Smart 50 Awards recognize the top executives of the 50 smartest companies in the Northeast Ohio region for their ability to effectively build and lead successful organizations. Ashley has been at the helm of Engage! Cleveland for its entire 12-year history. Growing us into a stand-alone 501c3, doubling the size of our staff two times over, expanding our events portfolio to encompass a wholesome professional development approach and more! She leads with integrity, decisiveness, and innovation as she implements flexible work-life policies, educational initiatives for staff, and inclusive programming for all. Engage! Cleveland staff, board, and leadership council members attended and were in the room cheering on Ashley and all of the award winners. 🚨 Breaking News: Cleveland is a finalist among three cities vying for a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion team, with the league planning to grow from 12 to 16 teams by 2026. The Cleveland Soccer Group has plans to build a new $150M stadium across from Progressive Field, which would seat over 12,000 fans if Cleveland wins the expansion team. If approved, this would be Ohio’s first stadium dedicated to professional women’s sports—a historic milestone for the region. The NWSL is expected to announce its decision by the end of this year. Last week we hosted over 100 emerging professionals for our 7th Annual Lead CLE: Professional Development Conference at Cleveland Public Library - Louis Stokes Wing. This event was an incredibly dynamic experience, focused on supporting the professional growth, learning, and networking of early- and mid-career professionals. Over the two days, we've had the privilege of engaging with an inspiring group of speakers who have led thought-provoking discussions on essential topics, including leveraging your strengths, building your professional board of directors, perfecting elevator pitches, and more!
