We're always excited to see cutting-edge research from one of our talented EREF Scholars! Check out Alireza Arhami Dolatabad's publication on PFAS decomposition and thermal stability. #PFAS #EnvironmentalResearch #EREFScholar
If you are interested in PFAS decomposition, check out our new publication! We took our PFAS thermal degradation studies one step further, exploring the thermal stability of products of incomplete degradation (PIDs). Our focus was on some of the most commonly reported non-polar PIDs—long-chain perfluorocarbons (PFCs), which are also potent greenhouse gases. Among our investigated PFCs, perfluoroalkanes have shown to be extremely stable, only reaching complete removal at temperatures above 600 °C, emphasizing the complexity of addressing some of the PFAS-related emissions. This project was supported by NSF and SERDP. A special thanks to my advisor Dr. Feng "Frank" Xiao for making this happen and to the Environmental Research & Education Foundation for supporting my PhD journey. Curious about the details? Feel free to reach out or explore the publication here: https://lnkd.in/gemmUKgS #PFAS #GreenhouseGases #ThermalRemediation
