The Koruson 2 (K2) cluster, with a total electricity generation capacity of 520 MW, is the first wave of projects currently being constructed, under the Envusa Energy joint venture, been formed between Anglo American and EDF Renewables. The project comprises the Umsobomvu Wind Project (140MW), Hartebeesthoek Wind Project (140MW), Mooi Plaats PV Project (240MW), located in the “Koruson” cluster in the Hydra supply area on the Eastern Cape/Northern Cape provincial border. All of the projects will connect to a new Koruson 400kV Main Transmission Substation (MTS), being built as part of EDF Renewable’s Koruson 1 project cluster. Envusa Energy will act as an intermediate entity, aggregating power from the projects and selling to the ultimate off-taker mines. Koruson 2 forms part of Envusa Energy’s pipeline of wind and solar projects in South Africa. The renewable energy ecosystem that Envusa Energy plans to develop, is expected to supply a mix of renewable energy, generated both on Anglo American's sites in the Southern African region, and from other sites, from which renewable energy will be transmitted via the national grid. #envusaenergy #renewables #edfrenewables #edf #angloamerican #southafrica #renewableenergy #decarbonisation
