A powerful visual and data-driven representation of urbanization and infrastructure development around Nairobi National Park. Over time, the natural corridors that lions once used freely have become more constrained, fragmented, or entirely disrupted. As new buildings, roads, and settlements emerge, the lions are forced to adapt, finding alternative, sometimes riskier, paths. This leads to increased encounters with human activities, putting both the animals and nearby communities at greater risk. 🦁 These insights are invaluable for understanding the environmental impacts of urbanization and the importance of planning sustainable development. 🌆 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: 🔗 👉 https://lnkd.in/ekzJPp7V #SustainableUrbanDevelopment #EarthObservation #ArcGIS #UrbanGrowth #InnovationInAfrica #NairobiNationalPark

  • 🌍🛰️🐠 Earth Observation Driving Coral Reef Resilience What an incredible success story from GMES Africa about leveraging #EarthObservation data to strengthen coral reef resilience! The #Dunia platform is proud to be at the heart of this initiative, supporting esteemed consortia like MarCOSIO (Africa Marine and Coastal Operations for Southern Africa, including CORDIO East Africa and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)) and MarCNoWA (Regional Marine Centre). This specific course, tailored for stakeholders from Egypt 🇪🇬, exemplifies the power of collaboration and knowledge sharing. It forms part of the cross-fertilization activities between these consortia, aimed at extending best practices and expertise from the Southern and Indian Ocean regions to North Africa. 🧑🏽🏫 The program was further enriched by the exceptional contributions of Marie Smith, James Mbugua, Karin Moejes, Swaleh Aboud and Ignatius Kweku Williams. Their dedication and expertise played a key role in equipping participants with advanced Earth Observation skills. At Dunia, we are thrilled to see our platform facilitating such impactful capacity-building efforts and fostering a pan-African exchange of Earth Observation applications. 🤝 📸 Check out the photos of this impactful event below to see the action firsthand!
