Training a new generation of researchers to better address issues in educational policy and practice.
About us
EPOL is training a new generation of researchers to better address issues in educational policy and practice. Drawing upon traditional strengths in social foundations, education leadership, higher education and human resource development, the department enables graduate students and faculty to support and collaborate with each other in coordinated new synergies to address the most critical issues in education. The department fosters an interdisciplinary understanding of education policy and practice across traditional divides among philosophers, historians, social scientists, organizational theorists, policy analysts & education administrators.

On this Indigenous People's Day, we offer this reminder of the context in which the College of Education and the University of Illinois exist. We are currently on the lands of the Peoria, Kaskaskia, Piankashaw, Wea, Miami, Mascoutin, Odawa, Sauk, Mesquaki, Kickapoo, Potawatomi, Ojibwe, and Chickasaw Nations. It is necessary for us to acknowledge these Native Nations and for us to work with them as we move forward as an institution.

Her research, teaching, and educational advocacy work seeks to disrupt inequities, advocate for educational reform, and illuminate the power of storytelling and history. Her research focuses on the oral histories of Black female educators. She is the founder of the un/HUSH teaching framework. Interested in a double concentration in EPOL? Look through our 10 concentrations and consider double-concentrating!
Did you know that graduate students at the Department of Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership at UIUC can declare multiple graduate-level concentrations upon completing the required coursework? For instance, if you’re admitted to the Instructional Design, Technology, and Organization concentration and you are interested in the Higher Education concentration, you can design your plan of study to fulfill the requirements for both within your graduate degree requirement. Both concentrations will be listed on your transcripts! I highly recommend the pairing below: <Instructional Design, Technology, and Organization + Human Resource Development> <Instructional Design, Technology, and Organization + Higher Education> <Instructional Design, Technology, and Organization + Diversity and Equity in Education> <Instructional Design, Technology, and Organization + Global Studies in Education> https://lnkd.in/g_jZ3hKt

Education Policy, Organization & Leadership at Illinois reposted this
In 2021, Iowa passed a law banning the teaching of "divisive" topics like race and gender. A new study led by Gabriel Rodriguez, assistant professor EPOL, finds that the law not only hinders teachers' ability to do their jobs but also makes them feel isolated and can lead to their leaving the profession. More from the Illinois News Bureau:
