Today was a special Thursday! 1️⃣ First, we welcomed Kevin Webb & Cristian Pascut from University of Nottingham to our regular meeting. They shared their progress in establishing the Hydro Photonics Research Lab and presented some promising early results from their experiments (no sneak peeks yet—stay tuned for the paper!). 2️⃣ Later, we collaborated with EPSO European Plant Science Organisation for an exclusive Hydrosensing session. Nearly 70 participants joined to hear our four PIs discuss the project’s ideas and how it all began, introducing Hydrosensing to a new audience of EU researchers. It was a day of discussions and knowledge-sharing, helping to build connections and broaden the impact of Hydrosensing in the scientific community.

We are thrilled to make our debut on social media! Allow us to introduce ourselves: Hydrosensing is a Synergy Project funded by the European Research Council, dedicated to transforming our understanding of how plants sense and respond to water. 🌱💧 Our project unites the expertise of 4 teams across 4 countries: - Professor Eilon Shani – A molecular geneticist conducting research at Tel Aviv University. - Professor Christine Ziegler – A biophysicist and head of the Department of Biophysics at the University of Regensburg - Information Science. - Professor Thorsten Hamann – Specializing in plant cell wall biology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) . - Professor Malcolm Bennett – A plant biologist based at the University of Nottingham. For months now, the Hydrosensing team has been hard at work, meeting (almost) every Thursday to share the latest results from our 4 teams or host inspiring seminars by invited speakers. Follow us for regular updates and stay tuned - we’ll be launching our new website soon!
