Entrepreneurship at Cornell reposted this
Last Friday, I participated in and won the audience vote for Entrepreneurship at Cornell’s pitch competition. It was a fantastic experience to pitch my company in the ideation stage to a large audience and multiple venture capitalists. I want to thank Matthew Kahn and Epsilon Nu Tau at Cornell for making this event possible and the rest of my phenomenal Kappa class for their outstanding pitches. I was accepted into ENT (Cornell’s professional entrepreneurship organization) this fall and recently completed an intensive nine-week new member education process. I am excited to see what the rest of my time at ENT holds, and I look forward to participating in other pitch competitions in the future!

Two weeks ago, I was able to participate alongside other talented students in the first Entrepreneurship at Cornell pitch competition! I gained invaluable experience pitching my early-stage clothing business to both a public audience and several venture capitalists. This event would not have been possible without the effort of Epsilon Nu Tau at Cornell, and I couldn't be more thankful to start my journey in the realm of business as a new member. I am excited to see where the rest of ENT takes me, and combine my passion for design with an entrepreneurial spirit!

Douglas Ford '22 Named on Forbes 30 under 30 for Chromie Health One year ago, Hotelie Douglas Ford '22 woke up with severe chest pain and waited 9 hours before getting a room – a delay in treatment that almost led to his death. After spending 2 weeks in the ICU, Ford came up with the idea for Chromie Health, an AI powered #healthcare management service that analyzes patterns in patient behavior to predict demand and optimize staff scheduling. The platform informs specialized treatment plans to minimize delays in care and reduce the stress on medical staff. Since its launch, Chromie Health raised $2.1+ million and launched pilot programs in 120+ nursing teams. By saving managers 10–15 hours per week on manual scheduling, the company can save hospitals $320,000 per unit. While being named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 is a personal achievement, Ford shared that "it’s also a win for Cornell as a whole," citing the support and opportunities he received during his time as an undergraduate. Ford's journey to entrepreneurship was non-linear and he credits Cornell University for much of his success. “One thing I loved about Cornell is they’re so encouraging of their students’ dreams, passions and entrepreneurial goals,” Ford said. “I probably had 10 startups that completely failed by graduation. … I went from selling … beach umbrellas my freshman year to eventually, what is now a life-saving tech start-up.” Ford, a first generation American and member of the LGBTQ+ community, and Harvard University classmate Scott Tisoskey founded Chromie Health with the vision to become "the Uber of healthcare scheduling." Ford intends for the company to expand internationally, and integrate quantum computing to stay two steps ahead of their competitors. Ponsi Trivisvavet MBA ’99 knew she had found her true north when the seeds she delivered to an Indonesian farmer helped him to increase his crop yields enough that he was able to buy a cow – to provide meat for his family — for the first time in his life. “Now this man can send his children to school, his grandchildren to college,” she said. “He can think about the future.” Trivisvavet, the CEO of Inari, was one of six featured speakers at the annual #entrepreneurship #conference held at Cornell Tech every November. "I love this conference because there are fascinating people who, even if they’re talking about something completely unrelated to what I’m doing, they’re so curious and they have this confidence to take a risk and figure it out,” said Jordan Berman ‘95, founder and CEO of Ofcom, a creative agency and video production company. “This is like getting a sip of motivation. And being around students who are so excited about getting into entrepreneurship, it brings me back to what I was a student.” https://lnkd.in/ezdEMZz6
