EU's bridge to stronger regions. Fostering cohesion and growth through territorial cooperation in Europe and beyond

About us

Interreg, the European Union's instrument for facilitating cooperation among regions and countries within Europe and beyond, plays a vital role in advancing regional development, fostering cohesion, and mitigating economic disparities. Interreg programmes cover different territorial areas, organized under four strands: - European Cross-Border Cooperation - Transnational Cooperation - Interregional Cooperation - Outermost Regions’ Cooperation These Interreg programmes serve as engines for project partnerships aligned with the key objectives of the EU's cohesion policy for 2021-2027: • Promoting a more competitive and smarter Europe • Supporting a greener, low-carbon transition towards a net-zero carbon economy and a resilient Europe • Enhancing connectivity across Europe • Encouraging social inclusion and a more equitable Europe • Bringing Europe closer to its citizens Additionally, there are two specific Interreg objectives for the period 2021-2027: • Improving cooperation governance • Promoting a safer and more secure Europe
