🚀 Progress Update from ESCOM - the data space project on the edge! Last month, the #ESCOM project team gathered at Institut für Produktionsmanagement, Technologie und Werkzeugmaschinen - PTW for a workshop and the quarterly project meeting to prepare for the final stretch of the project, with just under a year to go. The focus? Aligning all partners, resolving outstanding issues and planning for the successful delivery of final innovative conclusions in 2025. 🎯 Key Highlights: 1️⃣ Using real-world data from our partners, Berger Group and GMN Paul Müller Industrie GmbH & Co. KG, to implement AI-driven services on #Pontus-X to provide data and service offerings for estimating the remaining useful life (RUL) of the tools. 2️⃣ Integrating blockchain technology to strengthen the data governance process, which is ensuring privacy, integrity, and sovereignty in compliance with the EU Data Act in the #GaiaX-compliant #PontusX marketplace. 👓 Looking ahead, the team is driving towards milestones like finally deploying the blockchain technology, test and embed further AI-driven services and finalising specific AAS service descriptions. All of these developments are on the horizon - stay tuned! With many thanks to the Institut für Produktionsmanagement, Technologie und Werkzeugmaschinen - PTW for hosting us! 🏍️DIONE-X racing towards the finishing line DIONE-X set out to demonstrate the practical viability of Gaia-X-compliant data exchange channels. By the end of 2024 the project finishes and the insights gained now serve as the foundation for future projects such as Manufacturing-X and EuProGigant Ecosystem. The final event with all project partners to showcase the result of the DIONE-X research project took place on the 29 November 2024 at the FlowFactory of PTW TU Darmstadt, hosted by the Institut für Produktionsmanagement, Technologie und Werkzeugmaschinen - PTW. DIONE-X has shown that Gaia-X-compliant data and service ecosystems are ready for commercial use, enabling secure data exchange across the entire process chain. The project partners developed data-driven business models, from collaborative condition monitoring to customised KPI dashboards. A key outcome is the extension of an IoT platform to connect seamlessly with a data ecosystem, allowing secure and sovereign data sharing. Use Cases and Innovations: 🔍 DMG Mori demonstrated how sensors in ball screws can detect wear early, showcasing real-time data evaluation during a live demonstration. 📊 pro-micron and KWS Kölle developed a KPI dashboard capable of deriving quality parameters, providing valuable insights into manufacturing processes. 🛠️ Gühring showcased optimised tool deployments based on shared data. The project also identified some challenges, including user acceptance and the integration of emerging technologies such as cryptocurrency. A Technological Milestone? 💡 One significant achievement was the development of methods for partial anonymisation and secure data quality assessment, including homomorphic encryption. These services are now consumable through the Pontus-X data ecosystem. Optimising Through Data A standout result is a portable demonstrator: a miniature milling machine equipped with an IoT platform and data ecosystem connectivity. It autonomously integrates wear detection services from Pontus-X, providing predictions on tool replacement needs via an intuitive dashboard for machine operators. Conclusion DIONE-X has laid crucial groundwork for data-driven business models, demonstrating how data ecosystems can create tangible incentives to share data. Many thanks to all involved partners and people for your support in this intense journey with a lot of findings! 💡 Florian Mitschke | Andre Litochevski | Katharina Lange | Manuel Götz | Yannick Meinberg | Daniel Ehlisch | Jens Grieser | Jürgen Kranenberg | Marc-André Dittrich | Jörg Martin | Sebastian Schneider | Marco Haslach | Silja Wunderlich | Rainer Wunderlich | Prof. Dr. Frank Schirmeier | Nicolas Beer | Dr. Martin Körner | Christoph Scherer | Thomas Stolz | Thomas Komenda | Steffen Mazur | Sergej Portje | Willi Wünschel | Joachim Metternich | Prof. Matthias Weigold
