Events DC Welcomes Giant Pandas to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo 🐼 Last week, Events DC announced their sponsorship of the “Kung Fu Panda” film festival as part of the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute District of Panda Party. The return of pandas at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo aligns with Events DC’s mission to create unique experiences that result in jobs, economic impact and lasting memories for residents, tourists and guests. Events DC and the Smithsonian’s National Zoo also partnered on a video shorts content series called, “Pandas Among Us.” The series follows the Panda Pal visiting Washington, DC landmarks. "It's been a long time coming." Born and raised in Washington, DC, Events DC Guest Services Coordinator Natonya Bailey is a lifelong Washington Commanders fan. Growing up in the District, she attended Cardozo Senior High School. As a cheerleader for the school, she even cheered at the annual DC East/West all star game held at RFK Stadium. When she started at Events DC, Bailey's love as a fan turned into passion in the workplace. Stationed at RFK Stadium, Bailey was the front desk operator, managing public spaces including the lobby and media room. "Getting the chance to work at RFK Stadium was a dream come true," said Bailey. Today? Bailey's support for her hometown team runs just as strong — as evidenced by her desk at Events DC's Downtown DC offices. She'll be cheering alongside her Commanders obsessed six-year-old granddaughter and the rest of Events DC this Sunday as the team plays in the National Football League (NFL) NFC Championship for the first time in over 30 years.
