Heat pumps may save your life! A new report from Rewiring America finds that by fully electrifying every American household, we would prevent more than 3,400 premature deaths—or as many people that are killed each year in the U.S. from distracted driving. Electrification would also provide $40 Billion in health benefits and another $60 Billion in energy bill savings! Read the full Rewiring America report on the massive public health benefits of building electrification, and then find out how you can upgrade your home to use clean and efficient electric heat pumps! https://lnkd.in/gymBJFuv

Exciting news! The Environmental Protection Agency has announced over $735 million in funding through the first-ever Clean Heavy-Duty Vehicles Grant Program, created under the Inflation Reduction Act. This groundbreaking initiative will deploy 2,400 brand-new zero-emission vehicles, supporting 27 states, 3 Tribal Nations, and 1 U.S. territory. But it’s not just about vehicles—it’s about building a cleaner, healthier & more equitable future. This program will: Replace polluting heavy-duty vehicles with zero-emission alternatives. Build infrastructure to support clean transportation. Create good-paying jobs and train workers in emerging green technologies. Prioritize communities most impacted by air pollution. “Thanks to President Biden, we are accelerating American leadership in developing clean technologies that address the impacts of climate change,” Let’s celebrate this incredible step forward and keep #ChargingUsForward!

We have under 70 days to preserve as much climate progress as possible. The countdown is on. ⏰ Evergreen senior energy transition policy lead Mattea M. and writing/editing digital lead Medhini Kumar break down why LNG should be Biden's top lame duck priority. 1️⃣ Locking In His Climate Legacy Months away from handing over the keys to a fascist who believes the climate crisis is a “hoax,” President Biden must do all he can to preserve the progress our movement has built over the past four years. 2️⃣ It’s What Americans Want Over half a million people submitted comments to DOE, asking for an end to LNG expansion. Moreover, exit polling just last week also showed Americans prefer clean energy expansion over fossil fuels by 13 points. 3️⃣ Upholding Environmental Justice Through programs like Justice40, President Biden has acknowledged that justice and climate action must go hand-in-hand. Addressing pollution from LNG terminals is fundamentally an environmental justice issue. 4️⃣ Showing Global American LeadershipPro-LNG industry lobbyists use European energy security as an excuse to continue America’s LNG export expansion. But this is a deeply misguided narrative. Existing LNG infrastructure can already address Europe's energy security needs. Read the full analysis on how President Biden can seal his climate legacy and deliver for communities by stopping LNG expansion 👇

In these dark and uncertain times, I am so inspired and reinvigorated by my Evergreen Action colleagues who have spent the last several months preparing for this exact outcome, and who are ready to take the fight to the Trump administration. Irreparable harm will be done over the next four years, and there will be brutal losses, but we aren't helpless or hopeless. We can push progress forward in states and cities, and consolidate movement power. We can challenge Republican cruelty and incompetence at every turn. We can carry on the fight for a liveable future and a more just world. https://lnkd.in/ekpNw4mc

The climate and justice movement is stronger than a Trump presidency. Evergreen executive director Lena Moffitt and senior vice president Craig Segall lay out the 3 steps President Biden can take in the next 74 days to preserve climate progress under Trump ⬇ 1️⃣ Consolidate Our Wins It is time for the lame duck Biden administration to take as many protective actions as it can, and to clear away as many tools as possible that the Trump administration could use to undo them. 2️⃣ Enable State, Local, and Private Climate Leadership Both the president and the movement can make a big, final push to enable state, local, and private leadership that will be needed in the years ahead. 3️⃣ Build Cross-Movement Power and Solidarity Moving forward, cross-movement solidarity is essential to protect our communities and foster a network of subnational power to ensure our collective progress Read the full analysis of how President Biden and the climate movement work together to defend climate progress under Trump, and chart a path forward. 👇
