Reaching millions with the world’s most effective health interventions.

About us

Global impact starts with asking the right questions: How far can a dollar go to improve a person’s health? How can we learn if our strategies are working? How can we ensure that they will continue to work? At Evidence Action, we leverage rigorous research and iterate constantly to scale low-cost health interventions at life’s most critical stages, including pregnancy, infancy, childhood, and adolescence. We always follow the data to ensure maximum value for every dollar and maximum impact for every individual. Our programs have reached over 515 million people by pairing proven interventions with creative new implementation models tailored to local contexts. As we mark our 10-year anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to expanding access, improving cost-effectiveness, and utilizing evidence to inform every decision.

In Liberia, Syphilis-Free Start partners with the Ministry of Health to expand the use of dual HIV/syphilis tests in antenatal care (ANC) settings and treat women who are positive. Congenital syphilis causes more stillbirths and infant deaths than HIV – but it is easy and inexpensive to screen and treat. In just two years, we have prevented 2,300 adverse outcomes for infants and saved 1,300 newborn lives.

What happens to safe water access when a cyclone strikes? After Cyclone Freddy hit Malawi, displaced communities no longer had safe drinking water sources. Evidence Action worked with the government to expand our chlorine dispenser network to ensure those affected by the cyclone had access to safe water. This story shows how chlorine treatment is a key adaptation to protect public health as climate patterns change.

🌟 Milestone Achieved in Gilgit Baltistan Deworming Campaign 🌟 From September 24-26, 2024, our third round of the Deworming Campaign in Gilgit Baltistan reached over 200,000 children—a mark we’ve been determined to break for the past two years! This accomplishment was made possible through: * Training over 1,300 teachers and 500+ health workers to maximize our outreach. * Effective advocacy and community engagement to build support. * New strategies focused on factual awareness, ensuring that communities understood the importance of deworming. Thanks to these collaborative efforts, we’ve not only surpassed our goals this year but have laid a strong foundation for even more impactful campaigns in the future. This success highlights the power of teamwork and strategic planning in fostering a healthier future for our children. 🌱 IRD Global Evidence Action Waleed Rabbani Qadeer Baig

Grateful for the opportunity to join an engaging discussion with Nobel Laureate Prof. Michael Kremer, Secretary Sh. Ashok Meena and senior officials of Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, UChicago’s Development Innovation Lab, and my team at Evidence Action. In collaboration with Jal Jeevan Mission: #15CrHarGharJal, we're working to scale safe drinking water for hundreds of millions of people across India, taking inspiration from Professor Kremer's groundbreaking research on chlorination's impact on saving lives.
