We look back on a successful inaugural Spanish Diabetic Foot Project meeting, chaired by Prof. Dr. José Luis Lázaro-Martínez. Earlier this month, experts from Spanish diabetic foot clinics and key organizations came together in Madrid to discuss advancing diabetic foot care and adapting the Tuscany Valley model to Spain. A big thank you to our participants and sponsors, ConvaTec, Smith & Nephew, and Nanordica for their support. Exciting progress ahead! #DiabeticFootCare #EWMA #Spain #HealthcareInnovation

✨ The year is coming to an end. And what a year it has been! ✨ 2024 has been busy for EWMA. It has been a year with many great achievements, including new publications, courses, and a very successful conference in London. We can all be proud of the work to improve the situation for individuals with non-healing wounds, by supporting accurate diagnosis and optimal wound management. You all have a part in this. This is our mutual contribution to the world in a challenging time, which on a more global level is leaving many people in a devastating situation caused by wars or natural disasters. It may seem small, but it is nonetheless a significant contribution on an individual scale. We sincerely thank you all for your interest and engagement with EWMA. Without your interest and participation, this would not have been possible. We hope to see you in Barcelona in March next year for another great wound conference. With hopes for a more peaceful 2025, we send our best wishes for health, well-being, joy, and peace to you and your relatives ✨ ✨ HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND A JOYFUL NEW YEAR ✨

Non-healing foot ulcers in patients with diabetes mellitus pose significant challenges in wound care. This case report in the Journal of Wound Management highlights two cases where persistent foot ulcers were initially resistant to standard care. Through the use of biopsy, unexpected underlying pathologies were identified, fundamentally altering the course of treatment and leading to improved patient outcomes. These cases underscore the critical role of biopsy as a diagnostic tool in wound management, helping clinicians uncover the root causes of non-healing ulcers. Read the full case report: https://lnkd.in/dXYA63pc The authors are Giovanni de Gennaro, Walter Baronti, Laura Sambuco, Edoardo Trapani & Loredana Rizzo. #JWM
