We’re excited to introduce our latest Expa Studio venture: First. Founded by Libby Leffler and Expa Partner Roberto Sanabria, First is a next-gen legal ally for consumers, providing seamless and cost-effective legal agreements in significantly less time, at a fraction of the cost. The First team has developed a world-class legal tech platform that provides smooth collaboration and document execution between clients and their lawyers. The product has been designed in collaboration with top family law attorneys and with the input of seasoned industry experts. The very first product First brings to market is an end-to-end online prenuptial agreement for modern couples – with independent, experienced lawyer review built-in. Our investment in First aligns with Expa’s mission to back builders solving complicated consumer problems occurring at the point of an underlying generational shift in attitudes and behaviors. Organic adoption of prenuptial agreements is exploding, particularly among digital natives and women. Younger generations are waiting longer to get married and now accumulate more assets (and debt) before they say ‘I Do’. Yet, despite these changing views and trends, almost everything has gotten easier – except hiring a lawyer. That’s where First comes in. Already available for customers in California (and waitlisting now for other states), First makes the process of creating a legit legal agreement simple, speedy, and stress-free. Prenups are no longer reserved for the wealthy: they’re for every modern couple looking to protect their financial future. We’re extremely excited about our latest studio company: Iconic. We’ve been working on this in stealth for the past six months, during which time we’ve seen the team and product grow rapidly. Already working with dozens of SMB owners representing over $300m in enterprise value, the team is off to a great start. Representing an $11 trillion market, SMBs form the bedrock of our nation's economy, providing ~50% of all jobs, ~50% of GDP, and contributing to local communities in immeasurable ways. Twelve million SMBs are expected to change hands over the next decade, a turnover that will generate approximately $1.9 trillion in transaction value. Currently, SMBs change hands either directly from owner-to-owner, through brokers via manual processes and Web 1.0-style marketplaces. We think there’s an enormous opportunity to create a better software-assisted solution for sellers and brokers, aided by the latest in data science advances to capture significant market share in the SMB acquisition space.   Feel free to visit iconic.co to learn or to start a free valuation of your business. If you want to learn more about Iconic or get involved please reach out to Expa partners Roberto Sanabria or Naveen Selvadurai.
