Unlocking the hidden insights that enable marketing leaders to make trusted decisions and drive success.
About us
Factor is your go-to data librarian. We help you learn how to trust your data. Who are you? You’re a leader in a big org with ambitious marketing goals. You’re juggling multiple audiences, touchpoints, and stakeholders and need to share trustworthy data across your enterprise martech stack. But because the systems are disconnected, you can’t fully understand the origin of your data. Your data is not reliable; it’s not information you can act upon. And feed this into AI? Forget it! You’re just trying not to drown in your data lake. The root of the problem? Lack of alignment. That’s why you’re running into the same information problems across your enterprise, like these we’ve seen: ❌ Lack of insight into your marketing performance due to scattered, unreliable marketing data you’re not sure you can trust. ❌ Unable to share data to achieve business goals. ❌ Inability to leverage data to create personalized experiences your customers will love. ❌ Fighting the status quo of “good enough” but the scale of your data makes it too overwhelming to fix. Or you’ve already tried and failed. Using Factor’s Data Trust Framework, we teach you how to align your data across your business capabilities, strategies, and user profiles, so that: 💡You have confidence in your data quality and sources 💡Leadership trusts the data to make sound, timely decisions 💡Your data is aligned across the enterprise, breaking down silos 💡Customers have the personalized information they need to make buying decisions. 💡Governance plans keep institutional knowledge around (even when people leave) Imagine a future where you can: 🎯 Achieve your organizational goals with less frustration and greater confidence. 📊 Get crystal-clear insights into your marketing performance. No more guessing (or second-guessing). 📢 Say goodbye to under-performing campaigns and customer experiences. Let's talk. We’ll help you structure the information embedded in your org's strategy, objectives.

There's been a lot of fear, uncertainty, and doubt about GenAI in the press this year. Factor's Sherrard Glaittli helps us remember that there's still a lot of promise and potential in these technologies, especially if we focus on *trust* as a core value. Let us know in the comments where you think GenAI will go in 2025.
After the chaotic deployment of generative AI systems over the last couple years, I still see promise in upcoming technologies and techniques that bring us closer to truly Trustworthy AI.

Factor CEO Gwen Hall recently attended a talk that struck a chord with her; sometimes discomfort is what is needed to unlock growth. If you’ve had experiences where a challenge has led to growth please share in the comments. You never know, your experience may be an inspiration to others.
Factor CEO, I work with Fortune 500 Marketing leaders to help them trust their data and make confident business decisions to achieve their KPIs.
"Don't place a ceiling on your career..." This was the first key takeaway I wrote during Melissa Hurrington's "Authenticity: The Superpower to Transform Your Career" keynote at DATAVERSITY's Women in Data Management & Governance track. Ever catch yourself saying "I'm not ready" or "I'm not qualified enough" when an opportunity arises? Hearing this from Melissa got me reflecting on how often we become our own career's biggest obstacle. That "ceiling" you feel pressing down on your professional growth? Look closer. It's likely built from bricks of self-doubt, mortared with "what-ifs" and "not-yets." Consider this: A senior manager second-guessing herself before speaking up in executive meetings, despite having valuable insights. A talented Information Architect is hesitating to apply for a lead role, waiting to tick imaginary boxes of readiness. A creative professional talking themselves out of pitching innovative ideas, fearing rejection. These invisible barriers cost us more than just opportunities – they cost us growth, learning, and the chance to discover our true potential. Here's what I've learned: That feeling of "not being ready" often means you're exactly where growth happens. The discomfort zone is where capabilities expand. Next time you hear that inner voice saying, "not yet," ask yourself: "Who set this limit? And what if I'm actually more prepared than I think?" Your potential isn't defined by your current role, past experiences, or others' expectations. It's shaped by your willingness to push past self-imposed boundaries. We often label these feelings as imposter syndrome or anxiety – and trust me, I've been there too. As we approach 2025, I ask you: What invisible ceiling are you ready to break through? #CareerGrowth #WomenInTech #AuthenticLeadership

In our field, we think a lot about information behaviors like known-item seeking, berrypicking, and serendipitous discovery. Can you identify which form John Tulinsky’s career path took? (However he got here, Factor is glad he found us.)
Information architects often start their career doing something else, winding up there through assorted twists and turns. This is how it happened for me!

This week, Factor's Bob Kasenchak and Gwen Hall spent time in Washington, D.C., for #DGIQ2024. As a conference focused on governance, conversations about information architecture were less frequent—but there was a clear appetite to explore how these disciplines intersect. Data Governance ensures accuracy, security, and compliance, while Information Architecture organizes and structures data for usability. Many treat these practices separately, but together, they form the foundation for scalable and reliable data management. With artificial intelligence adding complexity to this mix, the need for alignment between governance and architecture has never been greater. AI both influences and is influenced by these practices. Bob’s session on consequentialist ethics of generative AI tied these themes together and facilitated valuable discussions on responsibility, ethical frameworks, and innovation in our field. We're grateful for another opportunity to exchange knowledge with industry leaders and look forward to continuing the momentum! #Factor #DataGovernance #InformationArchitecture #ArtificialIntelligence #AI

After speaking at Taxonomy Bootcamp, Factor’s Connor Cantrell had a chance to explore our nation’s capital and reflect on what it means to be an information consumer once you’ve become an information designer.
It took a minute to recover from back-to-back conferencing and holidaying, but I'm back with a quick piece on what I learned at this year's KMWorld Conference! #factor #kmworld #informationarchitecture

Next week, Factor heads back to Washington, D.C., for the Data Governance & Information Quality Conference East. Here’s what we’re most looking forward to: ➡️ Bob Kasenchak's session on Generative AI ethics: A deep dive into the risks and responsibilities of deploying GenAI at scale. ➡️ The Women in Data Management and Governance track: An essential space for amplifying voices and expertise in our field. ➡️ The conversations: Few places bring together this level of expertise, insight, and real-world experience in one room. DGIQ East is where the serious work of shaping the future of data happens, and we can't wait to be part of it. If you’re attending, let us know—we’d love to connect! #DGIQ2024 #DataGovernance #InformationQuality #GenerativeAI #WomenInData
