Fair Future Movement

We believe in rest. We’ll be leaning into what nature is telling us to do this time of year, and saying no to what capitalism is pressuring us to do. For the rest of the year we’ll be giving ourselves time to rest and be with family and friends. We hope you’re all able to do the same - you deserve it! 💙 Best wishes to you this holiday season. Another Water School session is in the books! We learned about how colonialism completely altered the natural landscape and way of life along the Menomonee River, and about Milwaukee’s water cycle and how our drinking water becomes polluted. We ended the day with a chilly and enjoyable walk along the river. ☺️ The restoration work there is beautiful and we’re excited to hear about the wild rice reintroduction project! Board members, Adriana Vazquez M.Ed. and Leah Holloway, and Co-Executive Director, Mandi McAlister, started brainstorming how we can amplify what we’re learning at Water School and make our city’s water story accessible to everyone. Thank you Milwaukee Water Commons for another great session!

What a beautiful evening with you all! Thanks for braving the weather to be in community and support one another. Election season is here—let’s take action together! >>> Vote by Nov 5th: Early voting in Wisconsin has begun! Talk to friends & family to ensure they have a plan. >>> Protect our freedom to vote: A dangerous amendment threatens voting rights—learn more & vote! >>> Advocate for participatory budgeting: Call on Milwaukee’s Common Council to prioritize community input in the city budget. Take action for a more just and sustainable Milwaukee:  1) Help Get Out The Vote: With just 26 days until the election, make sure your community knows when, where, and how to vote.  2) Support Immigration Reform: Join Voces de la Frontera on Oct. 11 for a press conference and vigil as we fight to protect DACA and honor families impacted by our immigration system. 3) Advocate for Environmental Justice: Urge your Milwaukee County Supervisor to hire an IRA Coordinator to secure federal funding for green jobs, clean energy, and more.  >> All action links are available at: https://lnkd.in/g9EneZvr
