📢 ANNOUNCEMENT 📢 AttainX, Inc., a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) certified 8(a) Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 3 certified federal contractor, will expand its operations in Fairfax County. The expansion will create 32 new jobs. The company chose to expand its existing presence in Fairfax County due to the region’s proximity to federal customers and its robust technology ecosystem. Fairfax County Economic Development Authority worked with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership to secure the project for Fairfax County and Virginia. Funding and services to support the company’s employee recruitment and training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program (VJIP). Fairfax County Economic Development Authority staff members proudly donated canned and other non-perishable food items through an annual food drive to Food for Others. This year, our team donated 2,335 pounds of food, and from 2021, staff members have donated 4,930 pounds to Food for Others. The M Group Architects an architectural firm specializing in data centers, corporate interiors and industrial projects, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 7, 2024, to celebrate the relocation of its office within Reston to RTC West, an office and retail development on Sunset Hills Road operated by JBG SMITH. 📢 ANNOUNCEMENT 📢 United Airlines has invested $16 million to open a new 20,000-square-foot state-of-the-art Inflight Training Center in Fairfax County near the airline’s hub at Washington Dulles International Airport. Construction is underway on the new center that is anticipated to open in 2025. The center will provide safety and service training for up to 650 United flight attendants every month. The new center will include classrooms, cabin and door trainers, and a mock fuselage to practice the safe evacuations of the aircraft and other emergency management situations. “At United, we have the industry’s best flight attendants, and we’re thrilled to be opening a new best-in-class facility in support of their ongoing training right in the backyard of our Washington Dulles hub,” said John Slater, United’s Senior Vice President of Inflight Services. “This new training center is yet another step in our long-term investment in our people and our commitment to growth here in the Greater Washington region.” ➡️ https://hubs.li/Q02ZlmY00

As access to capital is a common challenge for entrepreneurs, Verizon is announcing new $10,000 grant funding opportunities available for small businesses via the Verizon Small Business Digital Ready platform. Small business owners who register on the platform can receive free, personalized access to over 50 online courses in English and Spanish, mentorship opportunities with industry experts, 1:1 and group expert coaching, virtual and in-person community events and the opportunity to apply for grant funding. Small businesses can unlock the application for this round of grant funding by first registering on the Verizon Small Business Digital Ready portal and completing at least two courses, coaching or community events, in any combination until December 13, 2024 at 11:59pm PT.
