🌟 Reflecting on World AIDS Day 🌟 As we close out this year’s World AIDS Day celebration, we take a moment to honor the incredible progress made—and the people who made it possible. From the activists of grassroots movements like ACT UP to the healthcare workers and researchers on the frontlines, these heroes have paved the way for the life-saving tools we have today. Thanks to their tireless efforts, we now have access to PrEP, U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable), and antiretroviral therapy (ART)—all of which are helping to end HIV transmission and save lives. But the fight isn’t over. Together, we can continue their legacy by: 💡 Spreading knowledge to fight stigma. 💝 Supporting care and prevention efforts in our community. 🗣️ Advocating for equitable healthcare access for all. Let’s not just celebrate progress—let’s be part of it. Every action matters in creating a future free from HIV and discrimination. ❤️ #WorldAIDSDay #HIVAwareness #EndHIVStigma #CarryTheLegacy #LorainProud

Myth: If someone tests undetectable, they’re still a risk. Fact: Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U). When treated effectively, people with HIV cannot pass the virus to their partners. FACT: Antiretroviral therapy (ART) reduces the HIV viral load to undetectable levels, meaning the virus can’t be transmitted to sexual partners. This is what science calls U=U—undetectable equals untransmittable. Let’s celebrate progress! #UequalsU #WorldAIDSDay

FACT: Anal sex carries a higher risk for HIV transmission than vaginal sex due to biological factors—not gender or sexual orientation. Why? - The lining of the anus is thinner and more likely to tear, creating pathways for HIV to enter the body. - The vagina has thicker tissue and sometimes produces natural lubrication, offering more protection. How to reduce risk? - Use lubrication! It reduces friction and the chance of microtears, whether during anal or vaginal sex. For anal sex, choose water- or silicone-based lubes with condoms for maximum protection. Protect yourself and your partner. ❤️ #HIVPrevention #SaferSex #WorldAIDSDay

Myth: Heterosexuals can’t get HIV. Fact: HIV affects people of all sexual orientations. In the U.S., 1 in 5 new HIV diagnoses are among heterosexuals. FACT: HIV knows no boundaries. It can affect anyone—gay, straight, men, women, or non-binary individuals. Testing and prevention tools like PrEP are for everyone. Don’t let myths stop you from protecting yourself. #HIVAwareness #worldaidsday Interested in getting tested or PrEP? Give us a call at 440-322-7526 or fill out this form - https://lnkd.in/eGS8XNSC

✨ Myth vs. Fact ✨ Myth: HIV can be spread through kissing or sharing food. Fact: HIV is only transmitted through: - Blood - Semen - Vaginal fluids - Rectal fluids - Breast milk Let’s fight misinformation and stigma with facts! #HIVFacts #WorldAIDSDay #EndHIVStigma Reference: CDC: https://lnkd.in/eAgzdQ29.

✨ Myth vs. Fact ✨ Myth: PrEP is only for people in the LGBTQ+ community. Fact: PrEP is a powerful prevention option for anyone who wants to lower their risk of HIV. Factors that may increase HIV risk include: - Having a sexual partner who is HIV-positive or whose HIV status is unknown. - Not consistently using condoms during sex. - Having been diagnosed with an STI in the past six months. - Sharing needles or injection drug equipment. - Exchanging sex for money, housing, or other resources. PrEP is a safe and effective way to take control of your sexual health. Prevention is for everyone who needs it. Spread the word! #PrEPForAll #HIVPrevention #EndHIVStigma Reference: CDC: https://lnkd.in/eNqqeGZt

Myth: People living with HIV can always transmit the virus. Fact: When a person living with HIV achieves and maintains an undetectable viral load through treatment, they cannot transmit HIV to their sexual partners. Did You Know? U=U means Undetectable = Untransmittable. This groundbreaking fact shows that people living with HIV who are on antiretroviral therapy (ART) and maintain an undetectable viral load: - Cannot transmit HIV to their sexual partners. - Can live long, healthy lives. This is the power of science and treatment. Let’s celebrate the progress and end the stigma! #UequalsU #HIVFacts #EndHIVStigma #worldaidsday Reference: https://lnkd.in/eY75rfz4
