Alexis*, a past resident of our Adolescent Semi-Independent Living (ASIL) program, had been involved in the child welfare system for several years. With the support of Familylinks' staff and the opportunity to reside at ASIL, Alexis began preparing for adulthood. Alexis received above-average grades while maintaining a part-time job. Upon graduation from high school, Alexis enrolled at a local university, where she currently resides on campus and continues to pursue her goals. #StrongForLife *Names and images do not represent actual clients of Familylinks.

CLIENT CORNER! Leah* was referred to Familylinks ARIA Housing program due to barriers related to substance use and securing stable housing for herself and her children. During the first few visits with her Housing Coordinator, Leah showed little initiative in meeting service recommendations and guidelines. As Leah began noticing positive changes in her life, after accepting guidance and encouragement from her Housing Coordinator, she started working more independently towards her goals. Upon graduating from the ARIA program, Leah’s children returned to her, and the family could remain in the housing secured by ARIA without additional monetary support. #StrongForLife. *Names and images do not represent actual clients.

Familylinks' Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) program is child-led, play-driven, and family-focused. Our knowledgeable staff can help transition your child to independence as they did for Sebastian*. Before receiving services in our clinic, Sebastian mainly communicated his wants through tantrums and verbal aggression, as he is non-verbal. During the ten months of attending our ABA clinic, Sebastian became comfortable using a picture exchange communication system, which entails handing a picture of his desired item to a staff and waiting for a response. We work on fundamental skills for real life. To learn more, email autismservices@familylinks.org or call 412-924-0246. #StrongForLife *Names and images do not represent actual clients served by Familylinks.

CLIENT CORNER! After sustaining an injury from a fall that left her unable to complete tasks independently, Shirley’s* confidence and self-esteem suffered. A referral was made to Familylinks’ Options program, and Shirley’s situation began to improve. With the help of her care manager, Shirley began to feel optimistic and became comfortable with changing her living situation. Shirley was placed in an apartment that would alert medical authorities if she should suffer another fall. In addition, Shirley’s care manager connected her with supportive services so that Shirley could safely complete daily activities. Shirley states that she is thankful for the support and strength she has received from her care manager. #StrongForLife *Names have been changed to protect client privacy.
