Rachel Quindlen and Scott Maharry got to say hello to this juvenile Giant Pacific Octopus (Enteroctopus dofleini)!  Rachel and Scott were conducting routine PAR sensor collection operations at an eelgrass mitigation site in the Puget Sound. The sensor array includes individual components that measure different conditions in the water to determine if a location would be optimal for eelgrass. It is mounted on a hollow section of PVC pipe. Soon after being back in the boat, they discovered this cool octopus was hiding in the hollow pipe.
