The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology—the policy voice of biological and biomedical researchers
About us
Founded in 1912, the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) was originally created by three independent scientific organizations to provide a forum in which to hold educational meetings, develop publications, and disseminate biological research results. What started as a small group of dedicated scientists has grown to be the nation’s largest coalition of biomedical researchers, representing 22 scientific societies and over 110,000 researchers from around the world. FASEB is now recognized as the voice of advocacy for biological and biomedical research scientists. FASEB's Mission Advance health and welfare by promoting progress and education in biological and biomedical sciences through service to our member societies and collaborative advocacy. FASEB Quick Facts * Website: www.faseb.org * Celebrated 100 years of service to the life sciences community in 2012 * 22 scientific societies / more than 110,000 researchers worldwide * Manages many scientific meetings, conferences, and exhibits each year * Publishes The FASEB Journal and FASEB BioAdvances * Provides career resources through job/resume postings, networking, and educational seminars

🔬 Exciting Breakthrough in Fetal Growth Research 🔬 Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is a serious condition affecting about 10% of pregnancies, where the fetus is smaller than expected and at risk for complications like feeding difficulties, organ issues, and even stillbirth. Until now, no treatments existed to directly address FGR--only careful monitoring and early delivery in severe cases. New research published in The #FASEBJournal offers hope. Scientists discovered that a molecule called STM2457 can block a protein, METTL3, that disrupts placental development. In a study using mice, STM2457 reversed many of the effects of FGR, restoring placental growth and increasing fetal weight. This groundbreaking study highlights the potential of targeting the m6A modification process as a future therapy for FGR. While more research is needed to ensure safety during pregnancy, this marks a critical step toward improving outcomes for families facing FGR. 📖 Read more about the study and its implications: https://bit.ly/4gA6VLd #FetalGrowthRestriction #MedicalResearch #PlacentalHealth #InnovationInMedicine
