🔬 Exciting Breakthrough in Fetal Growth Research 🔬 Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is a serious condition affecting about 10% of pregnancies, where the fetus is smaller than expected and at risk for complications like feeding difficulties, organ issues, and even stillbirth. Until now, no treatments existed to directly address FGR--only careful monitoring and early delivery in severe cases. New research published in The #FASEBJournal offers hope. Scientists discovered that a molecule called STM2457 can block a protein, METTL3, that disrupts placental development. In a study using mice, STM2457 reversed many of the effects of FGR, restoring placental growth and increasing fetal weight. This groundbreaking study highlights the potential of targeting the m6A modification process as a future therapy for FGR.
