Sales is a game of perception — there’s what you *think* you heard and what actually happened. Here’s how I make buying from me a “no-brainer” without missing a thing: I use a mix of sales tactics and Fathom - AI Meeting Assistant to get crystal-clear on my buyer’s needs: (Real call notes from a deal in my pipeline below) Here are the top three areas I dig into: 1. CURRENT STATE  It’s not just about what’s “keeping them up at night.” It’s about uncovering barriers — and why they’re still in place. Question I ask: “If you have a marketing team in-house… what’s stopping you from handling this on your own?” If they could solve it themselves, they wouldn’t be calling me. This is how I find the real pain. The more emotional the response, the better. Which leads us to… 2. PAIN POINTS Sometimes prospects know they have a problem but don’t fully understand WHY. That’s where I step in to diagnose and offer a new perspective. If you can shape how people think, you can shape how they act — and that’s what drives real change. This reframe + question combo works every time: “Most CMOs say they aren’t producing enough content, but usually it’s that their content isn’t differentiated — so “more” isn’t going to solve the real problem: you’re not capturing attention.” Then I ask: “Can you share what your content strategy looks like?” I know 99% of SaaS companies don’t have it documented 😬 3. REQUIREMENTS A list of “must-haves” isn’t enough. That only taps into the 'logical' brain.  I’m looking for aspirational goals that spark emotion. (Because people buy on emotion, not just logic.) So I ask: “What would the perfect outcome look like for you personally?” Now I know internal motivators that turn prospects into champions (assuming I can deliver on it). This is simple but powerful. Especially if you’re going head-to-head against a competitor. ✅ Here’s the easy part: Fathom recaps all of this info for me right after the call. So I keep deals moving forward without any critical details slipping through the cracks. If you’re looking for a legit AI notetaker, check them out. • Gong was the 800 lb gorilla back when Richard White started Fathom. Here's why he had a hunch he could go up against them ⬇️

Founder / CEO @ Fathom - AI Meeting Assistant

WHY ON EARTH did I think we could compete with… Gong?? ⬇️ ⬇️ ⬇️ Last week, I shared how I happened to hit on the problem that Fathom helps users solve. The next step? Understand the market. Now, back in 2020, you probably know who the 800 pound gorilla was when it came to call recording software. Gong. 🙈 Were we going to compete with them? Were we going to take on a different market altogether?? There was only one way to find out: I decided I needed to talk to 100 Gong users. I split my time talking to managers and individual reps, and quickly noticed a pattern. Managers were the main Gong users. (more on that in my next post) The reps… didn’t really use it. I mean, they “used” it. It joined their calls. But across the board they saw it as a tool for their managers, not for them. (I kept hearing: “It takes half an hour to get the recording and transcript… so it can’t replace my notes!”) 💡 This led to one of my most important early realizations: ➡️ We’ve gotta make a product that the actual *people in the meeting* LOVE. My plan? Let’s build something great for the reps first. Then later, we would build in the features the managers actually used (this now exists and is called Fathom Team Edition). It was time to start building. PS This is post 2 in my #BuildingFathom series. Just joining in?  I’ll drop the link to my first post in the comments 👇 --  👋I’m Rich, Founder & CEO of Fathom, the #1 AI meeting assistant 🎁Get your AI notetaker for free (forever!) at Fathom [dot] video #startups #buildingfathom #founderstory #fathom

  • Big news—we've just announced our Series A raise! Huge thanks to our incredible users, who joined the VCs in this round, both believing in and backing the future we're building together 🙌 Delighted to have our round led by Telescope Partners. Onwards and upwards! 🚀

I’m thrilled to announce that Fathom has raised a $17M Series A, led by Telescope Partners. What makes this milestone even more special? Our incredible users— who invested over $2M, at the same terms as the VCs, in just a few weeks. Funding announcements are nice. But the story I’m most proud of is: → how we got here → why Fathom became the top-rated meeting intelligence platform → how we’re continuing to reshape business meetings for the future Fathom exists because of a pain I experienced firsthand: endless Zoom meetings, furiously taking notes while trying to stay present. Back then I thought: What if AI could handle the note-taking, the key moments, the action items, and get it all to the right people? The result: Fathom. From day 1, we invested heavily in building proprietary infrastructure so we could offer users a high-quality product for free. The results have defied our wildest expectations, and are a testament to the need we tapped into: → 90x revenue growth in the last two years → 20x increase in usage since 2022 → #1 highest-rated product on G2, a perfect 5.0 rating, over 3K reviews Of course, metrics alone can’t illustrate the impact on people’s everyday lives. Each and every day we hear stories from our users, of how Fathom deepens their conversations, saves them hours each week, and allows them to focus on their biggest priorities. So what’s next? We're doubling down on our Team Edition product, giving managers visibility into customer conversations, and helping them coach their teams with the force multiplier of AI. But this is only the next step. We envision a future where just saying something in a meeting can magically will it into existence—without the post-meeting work. And that future is not far away. To our users, investors, and team: Thank you for believing in the future we’re building. If you haven’t yet experienced the magic of Fathom: sign up for free and let us know what you think. Here’s to more meaningful and productive meetings for all! 🥂 PS One of the great joys of building this product is hearing users share the ways Fathom has impacted them. So: if you’re a user, would love to hear your story below!

  • Iiiiiiit's HubSpot's INBOUND week! And just in time for our big announcement. ...🥁 ... We know you love Fathom. But we know you don't LIVE in your Fathom tab all day. (It's fine. We get it) So what if.... (hear us out on this) What if you could see all of your beautiful Fathom summaries... ...Right inside your CRM. Because your CRM is where you already live. Imagine this possibility. And then try it out. Because your life just got easier. Hubspot <> Fathom seamless sync is here 🥳 Happy #inbound24

BIG news for HubSpot users: Fathom just seriously leveled up our integration 🎉 (And what better place to announce it than here at INBOUND?) We’ve always focused on making your life easier—automating notes, syncing key info to your CRM. But now we’re taking it a step further with some cool new features: 1️⃣ New embedded experience: HubSpot just rolled out their new UI Extension developer platform, and we jumped on it right away. What this means for you: you can now see your recent calls *directly inside* HubSpot—thumbnails, summaries, action items, the works. No more jumping between tabs—everything you need is right there in your CRM. 2️⃣ Sync custom fields: Tracking key details like “Economic Buyer” or “Competitor”? Fathom now automatically syncs those fields into HubSpot, so your CRM is updated without you lifting a finger. Big shoutout to Karen Ng, Scott Brinker, and the whole HubSpot team for making this happen. 🙌 It’s live on Team Edition now—give it a try and let us know what you think! #SalesTech #HubSpot #CRM #Inbound24

Yesterday I zoned out for one sentence of a meeting. We all do it, right?! ... right?! 😅 Well, instead of asking them to repeat themselves... I added an "Oops Rewatch" button in my Fathom. Then I linked it to a Slack channel that only I am in. As soon as the meeting is done, I'll have an unread message with the video snippet of what I missed. Fathom is soooo smooth. Features like this are why our users fall in love with the product. → Do you have a favorite Fathom hack or workflow that improves your productivity?!
