As an organization, we want to add some words around the post shared by Peggy Haslach, CFP®,CLU® of Planning for Good, LLC when it comes to DEI. DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) is not illegal; in fact, it aligns with fundamental legal and ethical principles that have long been recognized in society. Laws such as the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Equal Pay Act exist to ensure fairness, prevent discrimination, and create opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their background. DEI initiatives do not violate the law—they reinforce the values of equal opportunity and help organizations cultivate environments where everyone can thrive. Furthermore, beyond legality, we have a moral obligation to help others. Societies function best when people uplift one another rather than leaving others behind. Equity ensures that individuals have access to the same opportunities, even if they start from different circumstances. Inclusion fosters a sense of belonging and allows for diverse perspectives that strengthen communities and workplaces alike. At its core, DEI is about fairness, dignity, and respect—values that most people agree should be upheld. While there may be debates about specific approaches to DEI, the fundamental principle remains the same: ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to succeed is not only legal but also the right thing to do. Females and Finance SUPPORTS DEI. We want there to be no misinterpretation or misrepresentation when it comes to our organization's full support of diversity needs and efforts within financial services and financial technology. https://lnkd.in/gfTr-hD2
DEI is NOT illegal. One of the hardest things to watch right now is the organisations who “fell in line” to accommodate the anti-DEI contingent before assessing the moral, business and legal implications of rolling back DEI. Your customers are watching. Your employees are watching. Your future talent is watching. And we won’t forget. I recommend closely following legal guidance from legal and DEI experts Kenji Yoshino, David Glasgow right now. And I urge folks not to quit -- confusion and chaos is the strategy. But we shall not be defeated.

Thank you to Girlboss for their newsletter today, "🤐 DEI isn’t a dirty word!" Last week, Trump rolled back 60 years of equal-opportunity employment in one day, a major blow to DEI. ICYMI, he put all federal DEI staff on paid leave (to be fired), and now major companies like Amazon, Meta, Target, and Walmart are scaling back their DEI programs too. Is this the end of workplace diversity as we know it? Well, yes and no.
