  • We are proud to present "ANASTASIA SAMOYLOVA: ADAPTATION", the first major survey of contemporary American photographer Anastasia Samoylova, which opened one month ago at Saatchi Gallery, London. Curated by Taous R. Dahmani, this exhibition includes works from five of Samoylova’s most significant series: “Floridas”, “FloodZone”, "Landscape Sublime”, "Image Cities", and “Breakfasts”. In October, the artist opened an exhibition at the Met, pairing her work with images of Florida by Walker Evans. We are thrilled to contribute to the impressive momentum around Samoylova’s work with our exhibition at Saatchi Gallery. Do not miss it! • [Thomas Demand tells you more about his work] At first, the images Thomas Demand creates seem to depict the real world. A closer look, however, reveals that they are actually photographs of temporary sculptural re-creations. The artist has spent over three decades exploring the intersections of history, photography, and memory. His large-scale photographic works investigate the way images embed themselves in a society’s collective memory. Want to hear more about his work from the artist himself? Click here to see the short one minute video: https://lnkd.in/eFzngBAr From June 30 through September 15, 2024, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston presents Thomas Demand: The Stutter of History, a landmark retrospective of the artist’s work, with more than 70 images. The MFAH is the only U.S. venue for this exhibition, touring internationally!

  • [ON VIEW] "Thomas Demand: The Stutter of History" is now on view at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. At first, the images Thomas Demand creates seem to depict the real world. A closer look, however, reveals that they are actually photographs of temporary sculptural re-creations. The artist often selects his source imagery from the news media, and he re-creates those images as life-size paper models. Then he photographs them and prints them at a monumental scale. Afterward, he destroys his models, leaving behind only their ghostly photographic doubles. The internationally touring exhibition "Thomas Demand: The Stutter of History" is a landmark retrospective of the artist’s work, and the MFAH is the only venue in the U.S. It can be seen from June 30 to September 15, 2024.
