Visit our Linktree for some resources: https://linktr.ee/fercopp The Office of Public Participation’s (OPP) mission is to empower, promote, and support public voices at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC or the Commission). OPP achieves this mission through direct outreach and education to help people understand: - How FERC works - What industry/program areas FERC covers - How to participate in FERC proceedings OPP assists landowners, Tribal governments and members, local communities, small businesses, teachers and students, environmental advocates, and anyone else affected by and interested in FERC proceedings by providing information on individual proceedings and responding to requests for technical assistance. OPP will not assist in the actual drafting of pleadings and other submissions, but it can provide guidance and instruction on how to effectively intervene, comment, file motions, or seek rehearing. OPP also works with other FERC program offices to help FERC improve public access and create procedures that are inclusive, fair, and easy to navigate. This collaboration better ensures that the concerns of Tribal governments and communities, environmental justice communities, and other historically marginalized communities are fully and fairly considered in Commission proceedings.

FERC Term of the Week! “Pumped Storage Hydropower” Pumped storage projects work like a battery to store and release energy on demand. These hydropower projects are usually constructed with two water reservoirs at different elevations. During peak hours (like weekdays and evenings), projects generate power as water moves downhill from an upper reservoir, through hydroelectric turbines, to a lower reservoir. During off-peak times (like nights or weekends), the facility operator can pump water from the lower reservoir back to the upper reservoir to store for later use. #FERCFluency #Energy #Hydro #Hydropower Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

Are you ever unsure of how to find a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission docket? Each FERC proceeding has a unique docket number, made up of a prefix letter and a number. Those docket numbers will let you use FERC’s online tools if you want to participate in a matter that is being considered at FERC. Need help? OPP can guide you to the right docket number in eLibrary so you can reference it in comments you file and locate documents associated with the proceeding. We can also help you with FERC’s eRegister and eSubscription systems so that you are prepared to make filings and receive e-mail notifications for proceedings of interest. Listen to OPP Director Nicole Sitaraman talk about how we can help you find FERC dockets. #FERCdockets #FERC #publicparticipation #energy #publicengagement
