Our South End Branch, located in the Lathon Wider Community Center, is closed due to flooding in the building. Not sure how long it will take to reopen, but most branch programs have been moved to other locations. For the latest information visit https://lnkd.in/eMUutQ3S

News, views and updates about the Ferguson library for the library and Stamford community.
About us
Since it first opened its doors at the end of the 19th century, The Ferguson Library has been the heart of the Stamford community, a place of learning and education, a gathering place where people could meet and exchange ideas. Sometimes even a place to come in out of the cold for a while. As Stamford grew and changed, The Ferguson Library grew along with it. In 1911, The Ferguson became a free public library, embracing the concept that knowledge should be available to all, regardless of ability to pay. The Ferguson now serves nearly a million visitors each year, and countless others access our online services. But our core values haven’t changed. The commitment to supporting lifelong learning, and providing free and equal access to information is still at the heart of our mission. Our mission is to provide free and equal access to information, ideas, books and technology to educate, engage and enrich the Stamford community.

Next time you're visiting the Main Library take a couple of minutes to look at the exhibit 'I is for Indian: Native American Identity Stolen, Sold, and Reclaimed,' curated by The Institute for American Indian Studies Museum & Research Center. It's a thoughtful, sometimes uncomfortable look at the way Native Americans have been depicted in our culture. It's definitely worth viewing and discussing.
