Field Day

A year ago, Ryan Buchanan (Thesis) and I co-founded "We Believe in Portland" with a simple goal: to change the narrative about our beautiful city and inspire action.  We were tired of the complaints and wanted to channel that energy into making a real difference.  With the help of our friends at AdoptOneBlock (Frank Moscow Evan Griffith Olivia Langley Jennifer Bosze), we held our first cleanup event not knowing what to expect. To our delight, over 600 volunteers showed up to help clean 55 streets in downtown Portland.  It was a truly special day — I still get teary eyed thinking about our community coming together for the city we love. Seven months later in April '24, we hosted our second cleanup and the response was overwhelming.  We doubled in size, with over 1,000 volunteers filling Pioneer Courthouse Square Inc. It was incredible to witness. Tomorrow morning we are hosting our third clean up!!!  We will cover 418 city blocks, spanning Downtown, Old Town, Waterfront, NW, and the Pearl.  I can't wait to see everyone, pick up some trash, and celebrate how much we have accomplished since our first clean up a year ago.
