DID YOU KNOW? St. Elizabeth Hospital in Houston's Fifth Ward was a critical healthcare resource by the 1950s, operating at 110% capacity. Patients were treated in hallways, delivery rooms, and even doctors' lounges due to overcrowding. This situation highlighted the overwhelming demand for healthcare services, leading to significant expansion efforts to better serve the community. #fifthwardcrc #stelizabethplace #realestatedevelopment #weare5thward

The ultimate goal of Fifth Ward CRC, is to create a positive image of the 5th Ward community that attracts investment from homebuyers, homeowners, business, and government. The finished product is the blueprint for the development of a healthy community – a place where it makes economic and social sense for people to invest time, money, and energy, and creates social and economic impact. Fifth Ward CRC is governed by a diverse 13-member board lead by Dr. Micahel Emerson, and Rev. Harvey Clemons as Founder. Kathy Flanagan Payton serves as the CEO. Through partnerships and collaborations, the FWCRC is positioned to excel in program related activities. Our work is driven by a strong commitment which includes the value it has for residents and stakeholders. Commitment to Residents and Customers More than anything else, we are committed to the residents of 5th Ward. Residents are defined not only as those who currently reside in 5th Ward but also those who have been driven away as the area has decayed and those who might come to live here. We believe that active, skilled and committed residents are essential to sustainable community change. Partnership We are committed to building public-private partnerships that promote the revitalization of 5th Ward. Building Capacity We are committed to building the capacity of the Fifth Ward CRC organization and our alliance partners to meet our obligations as stewards of the 5th Ward community
