Financial Data Exchange (FDX) is championing the movement towards the future of open finance by unifying the financial industry around a common standard for the secure and convenient access of permissioned consumer and business financial data, the FDX API. FDX’s open membership structure allows all entities, regardless of size, to benefit and contribute to the FDX API via FDX working groups and task forces in a manner that crowdsources common industry problems and solutions and where every member’s vote is equal.

    Today marks my first day as CEO of the Financial Data Exchange. FDX helps companies create safer, better experiences for consumers and businesses to share their financial data with the third parties they choose. FDX has already made tremendous progress since its founding in 2018, bringing together hundreds of companies and individuals to develop common methods for safe data sharing that are benefiting over 90 million consumers today. And, the opportunities ahead for productive collaboration at FDX are vast: • More and more companies are building and scaling innovative digital tools that leverage permissioned financial data.   • More and more consumers and businesses are granting third parties access to their data so they can use those beneficial tools, while expressing a strong desire for data sharing to be safer, more reliable, easier, and more transparent.  • Companies are facing new regulations that govern how they protect, collect, or enable sharing of sensitive financial data.  • And, more financial account providers are recognizing the need to give their customers greater control and protection of their sensitive financial data. As the Open Finance ecosystem becomes busier, it is also becoming more complex, with a profusion of participants, use cases, and business models. Developing and using standardized methods for data sharing can streamline integrations, reduce costs, and help companies reduce risk. At FDX, diverse stakeholders come together to collaborate on building these scalable solutions. I’m thankful for the hundreds of individuals who have put countless hours into getting FDX to where it is today, creating tools that benefit the entire financial ecosystem. And I’m excited to get to work with the hard-working staff to make FDX even more useful to the community in the dynamic months ahead.   I’m also thankful for my colleagues at JPMorganChase after an amazing journey there over the past 9 years.
