As 2024 has come to a close, we took a look at the top highlights from last year: 🌱 FINCA added 3 social enterprises to our impact investment portfolio: Affinity Africa, Fluid Finance Technologies, and Releaf Earth (YC W19). These partnerships will be key in further empowering underserved, low-income communities, smallholder farmers, and women across Africa. 🌟We held our inaugural FINCA Ventures Prize competition, awarding $400,000 in grants to 12 social enterprises working in sub-Saharan Africa. First place winners included Rio Fish Ltd, BENA CARE LTD, Neopenda, and Kazi Yetu. 🗣️ Throughout 2024, FINCA made significant improvements in how we connect with our customers through expanded call center capabilities, improved agent networks, new mobile apps, and updated websites. 💡We made great strides in further developing our AI-powered platform, AuRA. In collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), FINCA is harnessing #generativeAI to conduct evidence-based customer research and create new pathways to drive meaningful social impact. This month, FINCA Microfinance Bank Ltd, Nigeria celebrated their 10th anniversary, bringing together FINCA staff, clients, and partners to reflect on their achievements over the past decade. In fact, through collaboration and joint initiatives, FINCA Kyrgyzstan has achieved a record-breaking series of financial literacy training sessions, reaching even the most remote regions of the country. This course, developed by FINCA’s Global Learning & Development Center, focuses on the development of women's entrepreneurship and is designed to help women acquire the skills needed for successful business development including financial management and market research. 🌟 FINCA Kosovë offered a series of trainings including sessions on agriculture and vegetable cultivation, effective communication in the business environment, and FemEdu sessions to empower #womenentrepreneurs.
