Helping law firm owners grow wildly profitable firms | Trial lawyer & Founder of The Mike Morse Law Firm | Over $2 Billion recovered for our clients | Keynote Speaker | Best-Selling Author of Fireproof| CEO of FIREPROOF

People ask me why we don’t open a divorce practice or expand our Social Security practice. The answer? Because we know our numbers. I grew up with a lawyer for a father. My dad was a really good lawyer who could handle different types of cases: - personal injury - divorces, - bankruptcies, - DUIs. My dad knew a lot about the law, but he didn’t know his numbers. “How much time does it take to handle a divorce case?” “What’s your average fee on a DUI?” “How does that compare to a PI case?” If I’d asked my dad those questions, he wouldn’t have known. Most lawyers don’t. For a long time, I didn’t. But not knowing my numbers hurt my firm. That's why we track everything now, thanks in large part to our COO John Nachazel. We know which practice areas bring in the most revenue, how much time each type of case requires, and how much of our energy is going into each. That’s why we refer 250 cases out every week. It's also why one of the first questions we ask every firm owner who joins Fireproof is: Do you know your firm's numbers? I know it’s hard to turn down cases. I get that. It’s something I still struggle with, even today. The reality, though, is that a $1,500 DUI might sound easy. But those “easy” cases eat up hours. What if you spent that same time on a PI case where the average fee is $10,000 or more? Any practice area can make money. But if one group taking too much energy relative to the revenue generated, it’s not worth it. And you can't know that unless you know your numbers. ————— If you’re ready to grow your firm in 2025, we’re accepting applications for our Fireproof Performance mastermind groups. We will meet for the first time January 24-26 in Miami. DM me "Mastermind" if you have questions or want more info.

I'm lucky to be spending two weeks traveling with my daughters over the holidays. We’re spending one week exploring a new city and one week on the beach. At 40, I might have been able to afford this trip. But taking two full weeks away at the end of the year? Unthinkable. I was still stuck in the day-to-day operations at my firm, which was generating eight figures in settlements by 2006. My team still depended on me for too much. Not because my people necessarily needed my help, but because I hadn’t learned to let go of control. I started learning to delegate and elevate in 2007. Now, almost 18 years later, I can say that the principle has transformed my firm, my life, and the lives of many of my teammates at the Mike Morse Law Firm. When I'm working, I get to work in my sweet spot. I work on things I'm great at and enjoy doing. When I'm not working, I can relax knowing that everything is under control in the office. I can focus on enjoying the time with my family. Like during this trip with my girls and my ex-wife. I'll share more about the trip later, but for now I'll say I’m grateful to have this time and a business that gives me the freedom to do it. Wherever you are for the holidays this year, I hope you get to enjoy time with people you love too. ————— If you’re ready to grow your firm in 2025, we’re accepting applications for our Fireproof Performance mastermind groups.
