About us
The first bank to be organized in Lockhart, Texas, the First National Bank of Lockhart was opened April 15, 1889 by James G. Burleson. Burleson was the brother of cabinet member and Postmaster General Albert Sidney Burleson. The board of directors included many of the men that played an important part in the development of Lockhart and Caldwell County, including John T. Storey, James A. Thompson, and J.M. Jolley. In 1934, the First National Bank merged with Lockhart National Bank, forming the First-Lockhart National Bank. First-Lockhart National Bank is the largest financial institution in Lockhart and Caldwell County with over $247 million in total assets. It has been a mainstay for the community and region providing financial services and community support for the citizens of the area. Its main location on the historic Lockhart downtown square is an icon to the community and reinforces its heritage and place in the history and growth of Lockhart. Our location represents 127 years of continuous presence on the town square serving the citizens of Lockhart and Caldwell County. Since 1889, First-Lockhart and its predecessors have helped meet the needs of a growing community and of America. The bank remains dedicated to the local economy and will continue to provide needed and innovative banking products to serve the needs of the community. In addition, First-Lockhart will continue to be the standard for financial leadership and community support. We appreciate your visit to our site and hope to see you soon!

First-Lockhart National Bank reposted this
I believe too many Americans don't understand that you get as much out of your University experience as you put into your University. What started as a fun way in 2023 to give back to Texas State Athletics and our #BobcatClub has grown into a major reunion weekend, where over 200 alumni from the late 80's and early 90's attend a tailgate and watch me ride a Harley, leading the cheerleaders and football team across UFCU Stadium. In November 2024, we hosted the "80's-90's All-Greek 2024 Homecoming Tailgate," and asked everyone to pitch in to cover costs... without a plan to make a donation. While we tallied our net funds raised, we also determined that the best impact would be to support the Maroon & Gold Collective, started by fellow alums "Big Thad" Thaddeus Watkins and Justin Shaffer, which facilitates fundraising and NIL arrangements to support Bobcat student athlete success. All of the above tailgate-reunion magic is co-orchestrated by Frank Friesenhahn, Jeff Truscott, 🇺🇸Fritz Cox, with support from DJ Anderson, Jason Cragg, Steve Ison, and many more classmates I could list. This week, Fritz and I visited with "Big Thad" and the Collective's banker, Gil Hodges of First-Lockhart National Bank, to present our 2024 donation. This is just the start, folks! NOTE: Prior to the photo below, I was in San Marcos for meetings with University Advancement's Todd Jensen, CFRE, and McCoy College of Business at Texas State University's "Skip" Sidney Anderson, PhD to respectively discuss future initiatives for alumni engagement and student experiences in the #AI Era. There's never been a more exciting time to be a Bobcat. Eat'em Up, Cats! #GoCatsGo

Tax season is just around to corner! Taking the time to prepare your finances for filing means that you will be ready to go with no stress come April! Follow these steps to ensure a smooth tax season: ➡️ Decide whether you will be seeing an accountant or self-filing. ➡️ Gather personal information and last year's tax return. ➡️ Make sure you have all your documentation, including W-2's, 1099's, charitable contributions, any receipts you may need, etc. ➡️ Account for all dependents and deductions. ➡️ Plan for estimated taxes or if you will get a return. ➡️ Leave plenty of time for filing before April 15th, or know if you need to file an extension.
