Our team continues to diligently work to attract an advanced manufacturer to the Advanced Manufacturing District in Mundy Township. Today, Karena Hamlet, program director of business services, spoke on a panel at Pathways to Equity Racial Health & Social Determinants of Health hosted by the Community Foundation of Greater Flint's Greater Flint Task Force on Racial and Social Equity, alongside the Flint & Genesee Group's Sandra Etherly-Johnson (She/Her), executive director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Community Engagement. The panel was part of a breakout session on Community-led Solutions: Collaborative Approaches to Local Challenges. Karena shared about the launch of the Small Business Support Hub and the great work being done with programs like the Moving Flint Forward Grant Program, the Flint & Genesee Business Bridge, the Two Lane Pitch Competition in partnership with The State Bank, and other initiatives that serve and an example for collaborative projects that help increase business opportunities for under-resourced businesses in Flint & Genesee.

Small Businesses!! Grant opportunity!! The Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance's Small Business Support Hub has launched a new grant program designed to support businesses at all stages of growth and empower them to thrive. The three grant categories include Start-Up Business (Max amt. $5,000), Micro Business (Max amt. $10,000) and Small Business (Max amt. $15,000). The funding can be used to purchase equipment, inventory, software/hardware, furniture, specialized consulting services, marketing, and certifications or licensing.
