🚀 ✨ This week, we’re excited to highlight the talents of our Gameplay Programmer and Game Designer, Dayne Farris! 🎮 Dayne’s passion for crafting immersive experiences and pushing creative boundaries at Flippfly is contagious. Check out his thoughts on game development and design below and meet him along with the rest of the team next week at M+DEV sponsored by Wisconsin Games Alliance! - What’s the most rewarding part of your job, and why does it excite you?   It’s an awesome feeling driving work from the prototype and design phase to shippable. Seeing the entire process come together and collaborating with the team makes this experience exciting every time! The most rewarding part is seeing the community engage with these features and hearing the positive feedback from players. - When things get tricky at work, what’s your go-to strategy for figuring it out?  A quick walk can give me time to step away from the screen and brainstorm different solutions. By the time I get back, my brain has usually reset, and a new approach is ready to try. When all else fails, coffee also helps :) - What’s the next big thing you’re excited to tackle in your role?  I’m really looking forward to the upcoming console porting process to bring Flippfly’s latest game to new audiences! - If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self starting in the industry, what would it be? Continue to let passion drive your work. This is when you’ll produce the best results! Also, don’t hesitate to ask questions—there’s always room to grow, and asking questions is a strength, not a weakness! - What’s one thing working in games has taught you that you didn’t expect? The amount of collaboration needed to truly bring a feature to completion. From design and prototyping to testing and final adjustments, each step involves the team's strengths and perspectives to make something great. - What’s your all-time favorite game, and why does it hold that spot? My all-time favorite game has to be Old School RuneScape. Growing up, I spent countless hours exploring its open world and engaging with endless content. It opened my mind to game design and still brings back great memories. - What game are you currently obsessed with? Given it’s the spooky season, I’ve been playing a lot of Dead By Daylight! I recently picked up all the killers in the game and have had a lot of fun trying them out. - If you could bring one fictional game character into real life, who would it be and why? Master Chief from Halo! Just so I could remove his mask and finally see what he looks like. - What’s your go-to snack when you’re in deep work mode or gaming for hours?  I typically don’t snack while working, but my daily go-to is always coffee! --- Dayne brings incredible energy to our projects, and we're lucky to have him on the Flippfly team! 🎮 #GameDesign #GameplayProgramming #GameDevelopment #GamingIndustry

🎮✨ This week, we're thrilled to shine the spotlight on our incredibly talented Quality and Community Coordinator, Cohl Carter-Wright! Dive in to discover his insights, tips, and tricks for navigating the video game industry. Plus, don’t miss the chance to meet Cohl and the rest of our team at M+DEV! 🚀 - What’s the most rewarding part of your job, and why does it excite you? I love knowing my work has a direct impact on the player experience and that, the better I do, the more fun they have. - When things get tricky at work, what’s your go-to strategy for figuring it out? I take some time away to reset the brain.  Even if it’s just a few moments, a clearer head can tackle problems better than one swimming in distress - What’s the next big thing you’re excited to tackle in your role? I’m looking forward to testing on new platforms as well as understanding the cert criteria for those platforms. - If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self starting in the industry, what would it be? There are efficient ways of providing feedback and that requires you to leave your ego at the door and work towards remaining objective.  It’s one of the hardest lessons you learn if you're passionate about video games, but important if you want to work in the industry. - What’s one thing working in games has taught you that you didn’t expect? It’s harder than it looks on paper.  A single feature could take a long time to implement smoothly and that doesn’t account for testing and refinement.  Games take a long time because they’re these amazing puzzles that we build as we solve them. - What’s your all-time favorite game, and why does it hold that spot? Solid toss up between Hades and Kingdom Hearts 2.  Both games excel in fast and fun combat, are narratively satisfying, and always have offered me a new way to challenge myself. - What game are you currently obsessed with? I play League of Legends once a night at least for some competitive fun, but my real obsessions have been Baldur's Gate 3, Disco Elysium, I was a Teenage Exocolonist, and Frost Punk 2.  - If you could bring one fictional game character into real life, who would it be and why? Bancho from Dave the Diver would be dope to meet.  Would love to learn how to prepare and eat sushi with him. We’re so proud to have Cohl on our team, and we can’t wait for you to see the impact of his work! If you’re attending MDEV, be sure to stop by, say hi, and share your own gaming experiences. Let’s connect and keep the conversation going! 🎉👾 #Networking #GamingIndustry #GameDevelopment #MDEV2024 #QualityAssurance #GameDev #GamingCommunity #MeetTheTeam #MDEV #PlayerExperience #GameTesting

Thrilled to announce that we're now casting voice acting roles for 4 characters in our Whisker Squadron: Survivor game! We've been working on the prep for this for a long time and it's been quite a process, but we're confident it will be worth it. We're inviting union and non-union talent to apply. There are a few extra steps we'd need to go through to make this an official union project, but we plan to adhere to the SAG-AFTRA standards and rates in either case. Support game workers! One important note: We'll need VAs to record with their own pro-level equipment since this is a remote project. You can read more and apply here, and please tell your VA friends! https://lnkd.in/grY79uKZ
