Beginning on July 1, 2025, hotels in Illinois will not be allowed to provide toiletry bottles smaller than 6 ounces. This new law mirrors those recently implemented in states like New York and California, aiming to combat excessive plastic usage in the hospitality industry. The initiative will start with larger hotels that have 50 rooms or more, and by 2026, all hotels in Illinois will need to adhere to the regulations.
