Will artificial intelligence replace foresters? Or will it become an irreplaceable tool for forest monitoring and management? At yesterday’s conference, “Forest and Digitalization: Will Artificial Intelligence Replace Foresters”, we discussed how digital technologies are transforming forestry. 🌳📡 During the event, the Forest 4.0 project was introduced—aiming to create a Center of Excellence that will revolutionize forest monitoring and management. We also explored the impact of digitalization, from data collection and analysis to technologies helping foresters adapt to climate change. Experts shared their insights: are digital solutions a helping hand or a threat to the forestry sector? A big thank you to all participants! Now, it’s time for action! #Forest40 #FutureForests #DigitalForestry Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas | Kaunas University of Technology | Linnaeus University | Interior Cluster Sweden | AgriFood Lithuania

🌟 #Collaboration fuels innovation! 🌟 At the Forest 4.0 Center, we invite experts to share their knowledge and pave the way for future initiatives. 🌏 Recently, we welcomed a special guest from New Zealand – Dr. Varvara Vetrova from The University of Waikato. She delivered an insightful presentation on the application of #AI in #SpeciesRecognition at our event, “AI for Species Recognition: Insights from Aotearoa/New Zealand.” This was a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about her innovative AI model, which can identify animal and plant species down to the genus and species levels using only an image. The model has vast potential to accelerate biodiversity studies and conservation efforts by providing accurate and efficient identification tools. 🔍 Dr. Vetrova’s work highlights the incredible power of AI to transform ecological #research, species monitoring, and environmental protection. 🌱 This event proved the need to integrate technologies in ecological studies to enhance conservation strategies—from New Zealand and beyond!
