Automation and robotics are helping transform the forging and casting industry and playing a major part in leveraging excess industrial capacity to meet the needs of defense, aerospace, energy, and more. Important discussion today at the Defense Manufacturing Conference (DMC) on how to maximize these technologies across the enterprise, featuring Jim Warren, CEO of the Forging Industry Association, Cara Cranston, director of technology programs at the ARM Institute, Jake Cipriano, chief technology officer at Manufacturing Automated Solutions, and Brian Began, VP of metalcasting technical services at American Foundry Society. “We have antiquated equipment that needs to be retrofitted,” said Cipriano. Warren advised forging houses on adopting more automated tools: “It needs to be in your DNA.”

Great to hear from Uday Vaidya, Raymond W Monroe, Matthew Draper and Jim Warren at Defense Manufacturing Conference (DMC) on the importance of inspiring young people to consider #manufacturing careers through curriculum and competitions. Those in school now are those who will be a crucial part of the future manufacturing workforce, Matt points out.
