Seven months ago I was lucky enough to go to Kent State and see their knitting/fashion program but also met some young people from Found Surface. We briefly discussed their future production plans and got them set up with a Complett linking machine. A week ago I got the call that I needed to assist them with installation and training. I've never been to their facility, let alone spent any time in Cleveland beyond the air port, so naturally I'm a little nervous trying to anticipate the unknown. Drive and creativity is contagious and it hit me like a 10 foot wave the moment I walked through the doors at Found Surface. Everyone I trained had a good working knowledge of knit structures and garment construction which kept me on my toes and we had to think outside the box on a few hypothetical scenarios. I had to tinker with a few other machines while I was there and check out some projects in the pipeline. Sage Dye and I had some good conversations of some bottle necks in production and sourcing. That transparency was a breath of fresh air and I was eager to share some insight and other suppliers that may be able to help.
