  • Mark Krause is featured in the June issue of American Funeral Director magazine! A fourth-generation funeral director, Mark transformed his family business into the largest funeral provider in the state. By the time of the sale to Foundation Partners Group, Krause Funeral Homes & Cremation Service Inc. had grown to serve 1,850 families throughout the Milwaukee area. Reflecting on his decision to sell, Mark shared, “I want to keep working, but I’m also ready to take things like human resources and IT off my plate. I wanted more time to do the things I enjoy. All these factors told me it was the right time to sell.” Mark’s journey underscores the importance of embracing change and following customers’ wishes. “You have to embrace change, it’s just that simple,” he said. “If you don’t, you become the dinosaur in your community, barely hanging on.” Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gSvppd3w #FuneralDirector #LegacyOfCare #AmericanFuneralDirector #KrauseFuneralHomes #FoundationPartnersGroup

Meet your 2024-25 OFDA President. Congrats Joe! Joe was born in Coos Bay, Oregon, in 1978. His journey into funeral service began at the age of 16 in 1994 when he joined Coos Bay and North Bend Chapels. He furthered his education and skills by apprenticing at Poole-Larsen Funeral Home and eventually graduated from Mount Hood Community College in 2000 with a degree in Funeral Service Education.   After completing mortuary college, Joseph expanded his horizons by working at Mt View Funeral Home and Cemetery in Tacoma for several years. Eager to pursue higher education, he returned to school and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he taught funeral service education and embalming at Mt Hood. Throughout the majority of his career, Joe played a significant role in managing Musgrove Family Mortuaries and Cemeteries in Eugene, Oregon.   Currently residing in Eugene, Joe serves as the Oregon Market Leader for Foundation Partners, overseeing all facilities and cemeteries within the state. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he actively contributes to the community by serving on the Eugene Police Foundation Board and holding the position of Vice President of the Wells Creek Water District. Furthermore, he finds fulfillment in coaching his son Charlie's sporting clays team.   Joe has been married to his wife Alexa since 2009, they have a son named Charlie. • We are honored to announce the official opening of the new "Court of Honor" at Springfield Memorial Gardens in Eugene, Oregon! This sacred space is dedicated to remembering and respecting the brave Oregonians who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. We were privileged to have members of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce and local veteran leaders join us for a heartfelt ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new Court of Honor offers families numerous ways to permanently memorialize their loved ones, from simple plaques to an ossuary, in-ground burial sites, and a cremation niche wall with space for more than 100 veterans. We are excited to continue investing in the growth and development of our cemeteries, ensuring they serve as meaningful places of reflection and remembrance for our community. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this day special. We look forward to hosting future events and ceremonies in this meaningful place. A special thank you to the media outlets that shared our story and helped bring awareness to this important addition. Your support is greatly appreciated. #HonoringHeroes #CourtOfHonor #Veterans #SpringfieldOR #MemorialGardens #RibbonCutting #Community #Sacrifice #Service #Growth #Development

  • We are proud that Venice Memorial Gardens was featured in American Cemetery & Cremation magazine! Venice Memorial Gardens, founded in 1975 by the Farley family, serves as a final resting place for over 10,000 families and beloved pets. Located on 25 beautiful acres in South Sarasota County, it offers native palms, large oak trees, and a welcoming, open atmosphere. Family Service Advisor, Coral Gonzalez emphasizes the cemetery’s role as a community space: “Our cemetery is a living place with no gates, open to the public for walking, biking, and fishing.” With a diverse population, Venice Memorial Gardens caters to the unique traditions of its residents, including Ukrainian, Catholic, and Jewish communities. --- In the changing landscape of funeral services, the embrace of cultural diversity is key. The latest issue of CANA's Cremationist magazine highlights the importance of adapting to the varied customs our communities hold dear, especially as cremation becomes more prevalent. At The Omega Society in Orange County, we've engaged with the Japanese American community, reflecting our commitment to understanding and honoring the nuances of Shinto beliefs. 🇯🇵 In Portland, we honor Buddhist traditions and the Mexican Day of the Dead with deep respect and authenticity. Our duty is to ask ourselves: Are we aware of the cultural fabric of our communities, are we reaching out, and are we adapting our services to meet unique needs? As we navigate these questions, we solidify our role as compassionate, inclusive professionals. For a closer look at these initiatives, explore the full article in The Cremationist.
