It's happening! MBTA is introducing the first phase of their #BusNetworkRedesign on Sunday, 12/15. Six routes across the #Boston area will experience service changes, increased service, or new connections. Foursquare ITP helped MBTA identify key locations in the network that would need expansions or upgrades to better serve their customers, as well as provided detailed recommendations on where operator access to restrooms will be needed, a critical component to operator retention and ultimately the successful operation of the new network. We are so proud to have assisted #MBTA with the implementation of this redesign and can't wait to see the rest of the phases carried out! Learn more about the changes here: https://lnkd.in/gV89qUgv.

Our work is on the news! The Interborough Express (IBX) was proposed in 2020 by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority as a transit line to connect Queens and Brooklyn in New York City using the already existing freight corridor. To help determine the feasibility of this endeavor, Foursquare ITP developed maps and rendered highlights. We are beyond excited to see that this work is moving forward. If built, it could be one of the most significant new corridors in the nation! https://lnkd.in/e_t_TXz3.

Transit operators and other frontline workers face high-stress situations frequently, which can seriously impact their mental health. To help address this, Foursquare ITP partnered with Rutgers University to co-lead TCRP Report 245: Mental Health, Wellness, and Resilience for Transit System Workers. This research identified challenges and outlined strategies to support the well-being of transit system employees. Want to learn more? Join Foursquare ITP's Sandy Brennan (Davis) and Lori Zeller, AICP, and Andrea Lubin from Rutgers on Thursday, 12/12, from 1:00-2:00 pm EST, for a free Transportation Research Board webinar that will explore the root causes that impact mental health and what actionable strategies transit agencies can take to help foster resilience among frontline workers. Register now to be part of this important discussion: https://lnkd.in/eDyRExUD. Learn more about the report here: https://lnkd.in/e65k6Vk4.

Earlier this year, Foursquare ITP helped develop a comprehensive zero-emission bus (ZEB) guide for the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT). Modernizing Transit Fleets, developed in partnership with Kimley-Horn, is a five-part guide focused on creating FTA-compliant #ZEB transition plans and offers practical information and tools to help transit agencies and their workers seamlessly adopt ZEB technology. Foursquare ITP developed the Workforce Development Guidance chapter, providing specific resources to help transit agencies proactively address workforce challenges associated with their zero-emission fleet transitions.
