The breach, affecting individuals with dealings with the library from 2010 to 2023, exposed contact details, physical descriptions, and photos. Current and former staff data, including sensitive information like social insurance numbers, were also impacted. The attack, discovered on October 28, 2023, disrupted library services for months. TPL has since enhanced its cybersecurity measures and reported the breach to Ontario's Information and Privacy Commissioner.
