We are the Future Blood Tech Network+ looking at Future blood testing for inclusive monitoring & personalised analytics.
About us
Future Blood Testing Network Plus is a EPSRC funded multi-disciplinary network to develop digital health technologies for remote, rapid, affordable and inclusive monitoring and personalised analytics. Blood testing is one of the most common types of medical test to assess various aspects of health status. Around 95% of clinical pathways rely on patients having access to efficient, timely and cost-effective pathology services. An important role in the future for remote blood monitoring that would enable patients and health professionals to carry out their own tests remotely, greatly benefiting patients and speeding up decision making. The Future Blood Network+ aims to cultivate a community of researchers, clinicians, patients and industrialists engaged in addressing the challenges of inclusive blood monitoring and personalised analytics to manage diseases more effectively.” We have identified three key technology challenges for our Network: remote monitoring, Information and communication technology, personalised analytics and AI. Clinical and healthcare applications includes but not limited to cancer, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, heart disease, drug and treatment monitoring, as well as primary care, pathology and perioperative care services.

We are delighted to announce our commissioned landscape report - The UK Laboratory Diagnostics Landscape Report written by Dimitris Grammatopoulos, Emma Braybrook and Neil Anderson! You can view it on our website: https://lnkd.in/dR8df4mJ and via Zenodo https://lnkd.in/dwKcuDeS Executive Summary: Why do diagnostics and laboratory medicine matter? These services are critical components of modern healthcare, serving as the cornerstone of accurate disease diagnosis, patient monitoring, therapy selection and delivery of public health prevention policies and medical research. Demand for diagnostics services in the United Kingdom (UK) has increased over the past few years, but a chronic underinvestment in infrastructure and staffing means waiting lists are growing. This sector is now recognised as being a very high priority by the government and NHS England. The landscape report examines and reviews the current state of the sector, and identifies key trends, challenges, and opportunities. In particular, embracing digital technologies, fostering research collaboration, and addressing workforce challenges are pivotal for the sector's sustained success. All stakeholders identify the immense promise of digital diagnostics, AI, and personalized medicine for improving patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency and recognise fostering innovation as key for long term sustainable success. In parallel, collaboration between policymakers, healthcare providers, and industry stakeholders is essential to reinvigorate the sector, navigate changes successfully and ensure that diagnostics, and more specifically laboratory medicine services, remain accessible and of the highest quality for all the population in UK.
