Operating out of Scotia, NY, Greno supports industries spanning defense to energy and has navigated significant supply chain management challenges. With the support of the Center for Economic Growth (CEG) and the New York MEP, Greno was able to achieve ISO AS9100D certification in 2017, marking a significant milestone in operational improvements. However, as supply chain complexities persisted, this prompted a crucial collaboration with CEG for a comprehensive supply chain assessment, funded by a $7,500 New York MEP grant! Mirion, a key U.S. defense supplier faced a 50% on-time delivery rate in 2021 due to production delays. But with support from AMT and the NY MEP, they were able to identify key issues such as late supplier deliveries, rework and lack of cross-training. By implementing new teams, adjusting lead times and introducing a morning meeting structure, they successfully improved its operations and delivery performance. This October, Clyde Carpenter brought his lab to the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival to Rhinebeck, testing wool fibers on-site to help farmers create new opportunities. Many sheep farmers in New York currently discard their wool, missing out on a valuable revenue stream. By measuring fiber quality, Carpenter is helping them explore new uses and markets, from fashion to home goods. His work is part of the NY Fashion Innovation Center, created to advance sustainable fashion by connecting farmers, researchers, and manufacturers.
