Over the past two days, G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors convened at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) to deliberate on financial matters that shape and influence the global economy. In existence for 25 years, the G20 Finance Track has been able to "galvanise actions with significant impact" during crucial turning points in the world. As the meeting concludes, SA's Minister of Finance, Mr Enoch Godongwana and the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, Mr Lesetja Kganyago have expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the first Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors under the G20 South Africa Presidency, successfully noting that all the member countries were represented. “A work programme has been agreed and adopted and will form the basis of discussions for the remainder of the 4 Finance Track Meetings scheduled for the year,” Minister Enoch Godongwana. Here's to a fruitful year of undertaking and completing important goals set out by the G20 member countries. #G20SouthAfrica Department of International Relations and Cooperation

  • "We must remain true to the original G20 mandate of promoting strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth. Geopolitical tensions, rising intolerance, conflict and war, climate change, pandemics and energy and food insecurity threaten an already fragile global coexistence. These challenges are interconnected. They require responses that are inclusive and coordinated."
