  • Did you know that GasQuip's FLEX can be used to test for moisture in Vacuum Circuit Breakers that have Dry-Air Insulation? SF6 insulation alternatives have started to enter the market, is your analyzer future proof? The FLEX Modular Analyzer can accommodate up to 9 sensor modules, ensuring you'll be able to test whatever gas is developed in the future.

    GasQuip - SF6 Analysis Tools

Here's what 4 years in the electrical utility industry has taught me: 1. Reputation & relationships matter more than anything. If you don't take care of the customer, word spreads quickly. 2. The technicians that keep our lights on every day are some of the most humble and hard working people you'll meet. They will also bust your balls given the opportunity. 3. The best solutions are usually the simplest. "Don't optimize something that shouldn't exist". 4. The US has massive influence on how the rest of the world maintains the grid. If it is a "best practice" here, it often trickles over to other countries within a few years.

It's #FixedGasDetectionFriday, we're taking a look at a site installation in the US of A installed and sold by GasQuip, commissioned by our support technician Ben Lawson! Here they're using SF6 for the production of high-voltage switchgears ⚡ SF6 is chemically inert and non-flammable, however, it's a potent greenhouse gas with a high global warming potential (GWP) of 24,300. It's important to make sure this gas doesn't leak from containment 🌎 When using high voltages there's the potential for arcking and the production of sparks. SF6 prevents this, acting as an insulator and creating an inert atmosphere. The client needed to be able to measure if SF6 is in the atmosphere and the ability to data log this information in the production facility 📊 For this application, we recommended the TOC-750 SF6 detectors. As well as the TOC-750 Control Panel as the brains of the system and a remote HMI panel for further interrogation of the system. Our TOC-750 SF6 feature the following benefits: ☂ An IP rating of 66 making it perfect for close-to-the-ground applications ⛓️ Housing made of powder-coated and stainless steel 🔌 2-core cable: which can be daisy chained to other detectors and to a primary control panel for both power and communication. 🔣 Multiple input and output options: one detector can control up to 7 other devices. SF6 is approximately 5× heavier than air, so detectors are placed close to the ground to ensure efficient measuring of any potential gas releases.
