Five student groups presented to university leadership and faculty yesterday at the Canyon Undergraduate Research Symposium. Many projects explored athletes, religion and health, including one group whose research showed that having an identity in religion led to lower stress and better performance among athletes. #gcuhonors #research #symposium https://lnkd.in/gWU4pbdR

Today, I wrapped up my first and last cohort as an Ambassador for the Athena Valley of the Sun leadership development program with The Honors College at Grand Canyon University! This program seems to always come back into my life when I need it the most. It is such a good reminder to be true to my values, to be confident, to be intentional with my relationships, and most importantly, to challenge myself! This time around, I got to mentor these four wonderful ladies, whom I’ve learned so much from! It was scary being on the other side, having to lead vulnerable conversations and to maintain a good group flow, but it was equally rewarding. My heart is so full and I can only thank Fanny Guerra, Kendall Smith, Breanna Naegeli, PhD, Marette Hahn, PhD, Kaleigh Williams, Dr. Lori Wieters, Linda Burridge, PCC, MBA and the entire team for such an amazing opportunity! So excited to see how these girls will carry on the Athena teachings 🙌🏼

I am excited to announce my recent completion of the GCU Honors College PAC Professional, Academic, and Career Development program. This 10 week program has served as a paramount source of knowledge, networking, and resources to support my academic and professional pursuits. Lead by Dr. Marette Hahn, who provided experiential guidance and wisdom, this program has equipped me to step into the remainder of my college career with the skills, tools, and understanding needed to thrive in the academic and professional landscape. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity through The Honors College at Grand Canyon University, and thankful for all the guidance provided by Marette Hahn, PhD and our peer assistants Ana Wright and Jason Pipitone.

I recently got to help lead the Friends-giving event for The Honors College at Grand Canyon University 🦃 It's been incredible to be apart of the Honors College Events and Community Belonging Committee. From planning and organizing to executing the event, it was a truly rewarding experience. I led the marketing efforts with Isa, designing flyers and creating engaging social media content to attract a large turnout. The event was a huge success, with students enjoying delicious food, fun activities, and great company. It was wonderful to see the positive impact of the event on our community.

I am excited to share that I graduated from PAC (Professional, Academic, Career) Program through The Honors College at Grand Canyon University this afternoon. I had the privilege of receiving guidance and mentorship from Marette Hahn, PhD, Ana Wright, and Jason Pipitone through to the duration of the 10-week professional development program. The main theme of the program this semester was "The Power of Storytelling" where we focused on the importance of understanding our stories, communicating them in a professional context, and recruiting other to assist us in building and sharing our stories as we enter into the workforce. Throughout the program we discussed and dove into National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Competencies, applying them to each week's topic, as well as, built self-development and reflection pieces around the TruMotivate assessment. By taking the TruMotivate assessment I was able to gain insight on my motivations and values to apply them to my professional career. Not only did I gain insight into myself, but I was also able to expand upon professional development in the areas of networking, resume building, interview tips, and many others. Another component of PAC (Professional, Academic, Career) Program was a team element where we learned collaboration and communication with the design to implement what we gained into real world situations. I had the honor to work with Jana Tibbs, Trevor Parsons, and Joseph Paul Markowski. Thank you all for your commitment and drive to develop professional skills throughout the program. Overall, I am so grateful for the opportunity to participate in the PAC Professional, Academic, Career) Program. I have gained so much knowledge on professionalism and desire to continue to develop career growth and improvement. Thank you so much Marette Hahn, PhD and Breanna Naegeli, PhD for this incredible program. It was such a critical component of my career development.

GCU Career Services is incredibly grateful for the privilege of collaborating with Marette Hahn, PhD, Breanna Naegeli, PhD, and the The Honors College at Grand Canyon University to take a group of honors exercise science/pre-health/nutrition students to the Kansas City Royals Spring Training Field (Surprise, AZ) to explore careers in baseball! The students had the opportunity to take a tour and network with leaders in sports management, sports psychology, athletic training, physical therapy, and strength coaching. After the experience, several students expressed that they now have a reaffirmed interest in pursuing careers in the sports sciences field. A huge thanks to the Royals staff for their warm hospitality and valuable career insights! #KCRoyals #GCU #GCUHonors #CNS #SportsScience #ExerciseScience #GCUCareerServices #ROI #LopesUp Aysha Bell, MA, CPRW, CEIP Marquis Scott Madison Tobin Lauren Hess Nicholas Wilshire Jennifer Singleton, MPsych Haley Fagerlie Dr. K. Last week I had the honor of attending the National Collegiate Honors Council Annual Conference in Kansas City, MO! It was a wonderful experience to present for the second year in a row. This year, I presented 'Offering a Co-Curricular Career Development Program to Help Level the Career Playing Field' where I had the opportunity to infuse my love for career advising with my passion for advocating for first-generation college students. Even more exciting, representing The Honors College at Grand Canyon University, I attended with our amazing program manager, Katalina Inzunza Herrera, MS, and three of our incredible student leaders: Keerthana Krishnakumar Juttu, Isabel Abbott, and Lauren Buhmann! Keerthana and Isabel even earned scholarships to attend! #NCHC #NationalCollegiateHonorsCouncil #Honors #HonorsCollege #GCU #GrandCanyonUniversity #LopesUp #KansasCity
