📣 Last week, the Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) project held its General Assembly in Lisbon, Portugal. As the second year of the GDI project came to an end, important deliverables and milestones have been reached: 🔵 Understanding the data inclusion requirements that countries need to meet in the 1+MG infrastructure 🔵 Creating guidelines for a national 1+MG communications and outreach strategy for citizens & healthcare professionals 🔵 Demonstrating how #genomicdata can be accessed and analysed via the 1+MG technical infrastructure in a federated way. 🌍 The World Health Organization has issued a set of principles for the ethical collection, access, use and sharing of #humangenomicdata. It was created with guidance from the 🙌 WHO Technical Advisory Group on #Genomics, which ELIXIR Director Tim Hubbard is a member of, and other international experts. 🔐 These principles establish a global approach to help protect individual rights, promote equity and foster responsible collaboration in 🧬 #genomicresearch. 🌍 Countries participating in Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) have committed to establishing an operational National Mirror Group (NMG) to support 🙌 the national implementation of the 1+MG Initiative. 🔍 Today’s #GDI_Deliverable documents the GDI project’s support of National Mirror Groups’ activities, including capacity building actions. 💡 One of the activities planned was the “Towards the implementation of National Genomic Plans in EU countries” workshop, where Belgium, Denmark, France and Italy presented their respective national genomic plans. 🔍 How to better communicate #1MGenomes initiative’s outputs and impact to the public? Today’s #GDI_Deliverables provides 💡 guidelines for creating a national 1+MG communications and outreach strategy for citizens and healthcare professionals. 🎯 The guidelines are targeted at communications and #engagement professionals who require help understanding the aims of the 1+Million Genomes initiative and guidance on how best to focus their efforts. The Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI) held its second Stakeholders Forum today. 🙌 A total of 140 participants joined us online to discuss elements of patient and citizen engagement for the #1MGenomes Framework.
