  • Making connections is a vital part of what we do, but we sometimes struggle to devote time to networking. Connections are important. They are the way we expand our knowledge, explore new opportunities and build meaningful and lasting relationships. Here's a simple trick to make connections and maintain strong relationships. Play Connect Four! Set aside a few minutes one day each week to connect to four people. It can be a quick text to a longtime colleague or outreach to someone just outside your network. No connection is too small... even a simple hello can make someone's day! #letsconnect #ideasinaction #networking #connections #relationships #expandyourhorizons

Strategy and Operations Executive | Advisor | Pharmacy, Medical Device and Health Tech Innovation | Pediatrics | Ideas in Action

Over the past few weeks, I've spent time indulging in the exploration of new ideas, skills and ways of thinking. I've said yes to every training and networking opportunity that came my way, and I have met some great educators and inspiring people along the way. All week, I've been trying to find the best way to honor what I've learned and those teaching me, and when searching quotes, I came across this one by Albert Einstein that sums up why I am so excited to work as a consultant and advisor in this next stage of my career. The solutions to business problems are often embedded in the teams that are challenged to solve them, but so, too, are the habits and persistence of memory about what has been tried and why it won't work. There are a handful of reasons to hire a consultant, but the reason to hire Gedney Company is to get that nudge you need to break free of the constraints that are holding you and your team back. When I do my job well, I will fade into the background leaving you with new tools and ways of communicating, tracking progress and advancing your mission. So back to what I've been learning... - Heart to Heart International has taught me how to prepare to serve on a disaster response team in a resource limited environment. - Max Sheffield-Baird has taught me how to "Polish My Pitch" and partner with the right clients to make an impact. - TEDxKC has challenged me to seek out the ideas and help people tell their stories. - Lauren Conaway reminds me to elevate others, find ways to remove barriers and create opportunity for all. - Shauna Clark, Jill Gaikowski, Risa Stein, PhD, MA and Mary Pfeifer demonstrate that creating connections and finding commonality is as easy as sitting down for a cup of coffee. - That Canva can turn a giant pic of Albert Einstein that hangs on your wall into a cool backdrop for a quote in just a couple clicks :) I'll end with one more great quote from Einstein: "I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious." So what have you learned lately or do you intend to learn soon? I'm ready for my next lesson! #ideasinaction #lifelonglearner #curiosity #amplifyimpact #letsconnect
